Shift Fork for Fs5w71b

Recommended Posts

I have a broken shift fork (1st and 2nd) on my 5 speed close ratio from an '81 280zx that I have been running in my 510.Unfortunately the part is NLA from Nissan, and have already purchased two online to find out that the part was not in stock.

Does anyone know if a shift fork from a 71C would fit by any chance? (There is a 71c for sale a short drive away) or does anybody have any other ideas on where I might be able to find a fork. Maybe somebody has or knows someone who has a parts transmission? I have looked locally at junk yard s and the like and am coming up dry.

Any help would be so very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

The C-type transmissions are a lot heavier duty than the B-type. I don't know if the C fork will fit in the B. If the one you're looking at getting is worthy of more than parts, it might be worth the work to get the L front case machined to use the C gearset and tail shaft housing.

The 71C 1st/2nd shift rod is 16mm (roughly 5/8") yours will be 14mm. (about 9/16")

32805-Q0101 looks like the part number.

Can you post more pictures of the fork from the sides and any markings???

Take your 71b front case and get it machined, if you use a d21 tranny they're about an inch longer than a dogleg.a little taller first gear and a closer spread, and a shorter OD. I went from a dogleg to this combo and I like it alot
