FunkyFresh520
My 520 pickup used to honk and doesnt honk no more.. when i push the horn i can hear a little noise by the glove compartment. My 2nd problem is im not sure if im using the right fuse amp for my headlights. I had a 10amp but it kept messing up. So now i have a 20amp and everything seems fine. Any input be nice 1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
Is any wire in the circuit less than 12 gauge copper? A 20A fuse should protect that wire adequately/barely. I'd try a 15A to see if that blows. My guess is that you upgraded your headlights? Or added something to that circuit? If so, I'd correct that first. Adding loads to circuits is commonly regretted when hunting down electrical gremlins. Also, if your headlight wire is hot when you get home at night, that is a problem. You will damage the insulation over time with that heat causing a short. If no heat, and wire is at least 12gauge, pop in a 15A fuse and try it out. 1 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Try touching an extra wire fron the positive battery terminal to the terminal on each of the horns. If the horns honk, they are good. The horn relay always has power to it. When you push the horn bar, the relay coil is grounded, and also passes power to the two wires going to the horns. If the sound you hear by the glove box is a click, possibly the relay contacts are bad. You can use Bosch cube relay. Connect the power wire to pin 30, and jump that wire also to pin 86. Connect the thinner wire on the original relay to pin 85. Connect the wire going to the horns to pin 87. Try a 15 amp fuse for the headlights. Does your 520 have 4 or 2 headlights? 2 Quote Link to comment
