I know that have been a couple people use the 720 carpet kits from JCwhitney in 620.  My last 521 I did the carpet and pad myself and it took a long time to do it.  I purchased all my supplies from an upholstery supply store here.  I bought all automotive grade materials.  I used 1/2 automotive pad and glued it down.  It turned out better than some of the carpet jobs done by some of the shops around here.

Put black 720 carpet in my KC 620. It's wider so needs trimming but can be 'massaged' into place. You have to trim away some of the 2"? under padding below the pedals or you can't use them. The area directly below the pedals is thick re-enforced vinyl which wears and looks nice. Noticeably quieter inside. Also warmer in the winter. Drove a '71 through 8 Ontario winters so I know cold and I know how useless the 521 heater is.

Carpets tend to collect moisture in the winter, yes. Once the car warms up the water evaporates and when shut off for the day at work or over night it condenses and fogs or frosts the interior glass. There is an easy enough cure for this. Open your door and take your time getting out. This allows the interior moist air out and the interior to cool down. Doesn't take long in a truck, 30 seconds will do, longer is better. Every time the moisture is vented, the interior gets drier.

Thanks for the replies. I am just putting to gather a wish list at the moment. My first truck was an old ford that had a rubber type floor in it. It was perfect for cleaning and getting the dirt and mud out. The truck is going to spend time at the motocross track, so no carpet will work better.

i will be picking up the truck next week sometime. Then later in the year I will get to work on it. Weber 32. Disc brakes maybe.

Pics to come.

Cheers

The 521 heater core is almost the size of the palm of your hand. It would defrost.... almost. If a search for warmth I cut my scrapped Charger heater out and mounted between the seats with 6' long water hoses. The next summer I boxed and mounted a 9" X 9" X 3" thick air conditioner condenser and a '50s electric fan in place of the glove box... that worked. This was about '77 or so.

I only have the sample. I will post a pic when I get home. It seems good. About 1/8" thick. Reasonably pliable. The cost is what is keeping me from ordering at the moment.

I like the Home Depot indoor/outdoor carpet option for cost. 200$ with exchange rate right now in Canada is too steep to hope it performs well.
