Yosemite_Sam
I am in the auto tech program at DeAnza. Today another student and I were preparing the Auto Tech Club's 510 for autocross and in the process we had ordered new brake lines. When we tried to install the rear driver's side line it would not thread in to the junction block. A couple measurements later and we found that the new line was about .020" too big. Anybody else ever run into this? We ended up putting the old line back on, but we would like to put a new one on in the near future so I need to figure out what part number we need. Thanks, Travis Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
Fitting is too big how? Diameter, depth or length? Thread is M10 x 1.0. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Left rear sedan? you don't say. 44230-A4600. This is the hard line from the wheel cylinder to the flex line. If you mean flex line, that's 46211-2002 and it does join to the distribution block. If this is a wagon, then the left rear hard line is 46310-A5400 and connects directly from wheel cylinder to the distribution block. 2 Quote Link to comment
Yosemite_Sam
Diameter, it won't thread into the hole at all. Yeah, two door sedan and the flex line. This car: I'll look into what part we ordered and see if it matches up with that number. 1 Quote Link to comment
INDY510
I think the rear soft lines are different from passenger to driver's side .... or maybe you got front lines Quote Link to comment
Yosemite_Sam
Yes, the rear lines are different. We have the correct right rear line, and both correct front lines for that matter, but while the new line looks correct it does not thread in to the junction block. This is what the line we have looks like, the threaded end is just a little bit too big to thread in to the junction block. Quote Link to comment
Marsh510
Off topic, but when do you guys plan to have the Autocross event? Would like to bring my 510 over some time. Quote Link to comment
heywier427
Upgrade to braided lines. Well worth it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Unfortunately a couple years ago when the school rebuilt the parking lot where the Duel at DeAnza was held solar panels were installed, which rendered that parking lot unsafe to hold an autocross in. I have heard discussion of looking for another venue to hold the event at, but at this time we have no plans. Upgrade to braided lines. Well worth it. If it were my choice that would have been the route we went, but based on the price difference the club decided to stick with rubber. Quote Link to comment

I have a 2 door also...when I got my lines they all went in smoothly, I have a feeling yours was swapped out by someone in the warehouse when he or she was trying to match up with a similar line, they probably put the wrong line in that box (carelessness), call them up and have them ship another one and you send that one back, I had this happen with another part, wrong part in wrong box, happens.
