zx diff into 510

Hey,gotta 72 510 & planning on maybe finding a donor zx (79-83) to upgrade struts,brakes, transmission. What has to happen to also use the differential in the 510? And could you tell me what the gear ratio would be in a zx ? I think turbo cars were different from non turbos

I think the ratio is 3:90 and why would you want to put an open rear end in your car, you already have one. Plus, it weighs more.

Well I'm not sure if I'll need the 510 diff rebuilt, I know it's leaking, if it's OK I will use it. But if I get a zx donor car ,I'll have the zx diff on hand.The 510 isn't drivable, so I don't know if it's bad. Anyone know if parts are available to rebuild one, or if it can be rebuilt for under say,$400.? Bought the car not running, so don't know if the diff is gonna be noisy or messed up.

You can get a subaru r160 lsd for 400 if you shop around. Has to be 92 or older to work with your axles

You can also get a 3.9 open r160 from a subie for like $50.

Not to mention, the Z's dif is not a direct swap in. It's an r200 with a much deeper offset for the mustache bar.

Is it hard to reseal a 510 diff if that's all it needs?

Front pinion seal and two side seals unless it's the paper gasket on the back. Are you using synthetic gear oil?

True if it's an R200, but if the diff is a R180, it's a direct swap if the spline count is the same and it's a bolt in flange axle.
