Swapping 720 heater control valves between years

Hey Ratsun,

My 82' 720 pickup has a leaky heater control valve that I have been trying to source for the past couple of weeks. Well yesterday in my girlfriends neighbour's lawn (who has a ton of vehicles that he fixes and sells) a rusty ol' 720 popped up for 300$. Looks like it would make a great parts truck, however it's an 84. Does anyone know if the heater control valve will fit, as that's the main thing i'd be buying it for. I checked it out and it looks like the same part but I wouldn't mind being absolutely sure before I buy it. Thanks for the help!

Later 720 valves are plastic but work the same. Earlier I don't know if they still used the brass ones like the 620. Post a picture. I can't till I get home from Calgary late next week.

There were a lot of changes around October '83 or a few months into the '84 model year. Z24 engine, no 4 speeds, grill, bed, front marker lights, self adjusting rear brakes, larger calipers and vented rotors on the front... the list is endless. Much of it can be swapped if you have everything.

Crawl in the $300 truck and compare to yours.  The valves can be different  You might be able swap complete heater boxes. The hoses come in the firewall in different places.

Here is an after market Part # for the early valve

Everco H4963  These come up on ebay every now and then.  Try your local parts hose.

Thanks for the help guys. All I know is that they are both brass. Unfortunately I can't get a picture of the parts truck yet but here's one of mine (although it probably won't help without the other).

And here's one of my rig for good measure.

I'll try and go over tomorrow or the next day to properly A-B the two of them and see.
