H190 will 720 ring & pinion for 510 Wagon/Roadster LSD

Recommended Posts

I have a H190 LSD in my 1200 race car and currently run a 4.38 ring & pinion and would like to go to a 4.62 but as you all not these are not exactly easy to find. I did find several 4.62 R&Ps for 720 housings but I believe the pinion shaft is actually different. I believe 720 uses larger pinion bearings. Can anyone confirm if a 720 R&P will fit the early H190 (23 spline side gear aluminum housing)

Morrison shoot me a PM and yes these are not cheap. I ponied up $1300 for the LSD third member with the 4.38 ratio. I've found 4.62 R&Ps online but they're listed as 720.

I'm after the 4.62 because I'm trying to find a way around having to spend 3K for a stronger close ratio box. My car eats cluster gears from time to time because I'm using 56 series gear box. I have a 60 series 5 speed, coupled with a 4.62 rear gear and the short Hoosier tires it appears I can use 3-5th and avoid the huuuuuuge gap between 2nd and 3rd.
