She admitted to impact but claimed existing damage once she got closer. Hit me so hard a sealed o2 bung cap was dislodged from the front of the car. Im rather fond of the new exhaust note and accompanying gurgle on decel 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
I'm sure you have at least one picture of the ass end that would show there was no existing damage. All of that is very fixable. Sucks major dick.... but it's not scrap. Make them pay!!! You better lay down.. cause that back and neck are gonna start hurting real soon. 1 Quote Link to comment

TheBirdistheWord
she told the police I was attempting to leave the scene to coax them to come out to the NON injury traffic report. I was flailing, and irate, but at that point realized her game and chilled out, I speculate her antagonizing behavior despite being the one who smashed my car was to exacerbate my mood to incite empathy as the victim. Incident report states no injury, I had someone in the car with me for impact reference, I dont know if that will even be applicable. I just checked for photos of the rear of the car, most recent is a few months ago, so that doesnt help. however, my buddy whos doing the estimating has extensive experience with the car from a few non insurance jobs he personally performed, im hoping he can infer that he will attest or can confirm no prior damage without me having to provide any support. Nothing but great things to say about their metal working guy, hopefully I can get away with a new rear panel and a rework on the quarter panel. 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
New quarter, new tail light panel, new rear valance, new tail light housings, possibly new bumper and brackets if it's even slightly tweaked. Trip to the doctor to check your neck and spine. Your passenger is a key witness. They can confirm no prior damage. Pictures from a few months ago are pretty good evidence. Head over to futofab, start building out a cart. Print it... use it for reference. Also find a quote a NOS tail light, and Euro lens. They look like they are in good shape.. but still.. even one crack and it should be replaced as part of the claim. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dattokai
Might be able to bang that out. My 510 got hit in the rear and my tail light got twisted a bit as well. http://imgur.com/a/3J2w6 1 Quote Link to comment
TheBirdistheWord
theres no doubt about it, rear quater is bowed out and the body is tweaked slightly in the direction of the drivers side front corner. It can definitely be banged out, I have done it to the front after I lost control in the rain. I am not sure about how to go about straightening the body, probably going onto a frame rack if I can find cheap access. really hoping they dont try to give me $500 for a total loss.... 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
yes they will try. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
You should go on craigslist and ebay, look for examples of 510s in the same shape as yours was, print them out because they're gonna try to hit you with some bullshit blue book value. 1 Quote Link to comment
TheBirdistheWord
whoa, just looked at CL prices, when the hell did people consistently start asking $9k for a running swapped dime?!?!?! This makes me think I might be giving the ride a solid makeover and some upgrades soon! 2 Quote Link to comment
Lozer
only 9k hold on. Guys post up some 15k ads LOL 1 Quote Link to comment
zookeeper
If it was preexisting damage it wouldn't have so many dangling loose flakes of paint and there would be rust. A friend of mine looks at claims and evidence for an insurance company and agrees that it looks like recent damage. Quote Link to comment
edekalil
Could be a lot worse, it looks very fixable with out having to put new panels on. It does suck though. Gus luck on it. Quote Link to comment

TheBirdistheWord
shit, sorry about the lag. The insurance company and I agreed on $5300 for the damage, total loss. It was already a salvaged title, and so very far from a beauty queen, I was blown away that they opened with that offer. Some time after all was said and done I had the thought that they thought they were low balling me. whatever, After I realized all of the sectional futo fab panels were sold out, 45 minutes and a 2 Lb sledge, aside from a small buckle in the bumper support and a crease in the rear panel Ive got the body shape back and my lights facing proper! Im satisfied with the outcome for sure. Kind of biffed on the DMV side of things, getting that sorted now. doing a few things to the car with the money, gonna post photos in a progress thread when im finished up with a few projects.
