ambitious1
FIRST POST! Bought this today! In great original condition, stock seat, radio, knobs/button/switches/lenses/bumpers/trim etc….. It's ALL there and in very good condition. It fired right up with a hot battery and a dribble of gas in the carb. It's been repainted which is a bummer, but it's very solid and rust free. It has some electrical issues. The starter/wipers work, but the lights/blinkers don't. Plans are to dump it, put some front discs on it, and probably put a header/carb on it. How do these lil 1300's do with a single Mikuni phh44 side draft!? It's supposedly been rebuilt, I'll check the compression when I get it home. Also, is there an electronic ignition option? I'd rather not have to dink around with points if I don't have to. Here's some pics... 6 Quote Link to comment

tr8er
Definite score. Pertronix makes an electric conversion for your points dizzy I bet. There may be an electric ignition that swaps in as well but I'm not certain with the 13. You might be a bit aggressive with that carb choice, but it sounds like your just having fun. Have at it! And since its been painted, you are free to paint again. Even better. 2 Quote Link to comment
HOGIE
Looks like you have a really nice starting point Welcome aboard Edit: Even has taillights and rear reflectors, score! 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
Nice color..Nothing is wrong with points though but if you have to stay away from Hot Sparks, go with Pertronix had them on like 4 cars and you set it and forget it. No need headers and if you do go with 32/36 Weber, Make sure it's a weber, some floating around pretending to be weber. They may say just like weber or post a pic of the carb next to a weber box. Stay away from EMPI 32/36 weber knock off. Sort things out and get it running before you buy stuff that you may not need. Do a compression check, get the electrical stuff out of the way also. Good luck! 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
How deep you willing to go with your "project?" http://community.ratsun.net/topic/69099-my-latest-engine-swap/ Something to ponder. Probably better money spent as well for reliability/economy. Pair that with a gear set from a few years newer datsun truck to make a great combo. 1 Quote Link to comment

ambitious1
Thanks for all the replies, got it home and took some pics yesterday. I'll post them up soon. The pickup will probably be just sitting in the shop for a lil bit, I'm in the process of doing a full home "makeover" on the place I just bought. It was a mess. But it has a HUGE nice shop on 5 acres. It's gonna be rad for all my car addictions. I have the Datsun, but also….. A 37 chevy rat pickup, an 83 toyota rock crawler, a 95 Impreza rallycross car, an 05 Harley bagger, Chevy box truck with lift gate (mobile storage unit), a 12 valve cummins dually (tow pig), and 2 other rigs that seem to float around… And parts for pretty much all of them. It's safe to say I have a bit of a car addition…. As far as lowering it goes I'm gone index the torsion bars and put blocks in it. Should I run skinny whitewalls? Or some awesome old school 15x10 LEGIT 3 piece enkies!? I'm thinking the skinnys will look cooler…. Here's how bad my sickness is… I bought the wheels (enkies) a few weeks back, and decided to buy the Datsun ONLY because I scored the rad wheels…. Thats bad….. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Don't do the 10" wide wheels. You'll need flares. That old of a truck, it will just look funny. 15x8, 0et is about as much as you can fit without fender well work. Chevy K5 rally's are a great fit/good look. 2 Quote Link to comment
ambitious1
Heres a few more pics…. No time to tinker with it for a while. Have a race (rallycross) this weekend, and been working on the new house. But I did pull the hood off, the hinges were stiff and the hood wanted to buckle, broke a couple bolts doing that, so now I get to drill/tap the hood holes… Awesome... 3 Quote Link to comment

ambitious1
Wow. yeah haha, you interested?! I have a '37 chevy ratrod, '50 willys, 4 subaru impreza cars for dirt racing, a harley, 83 toyota rock crawler, cummins truck, a few trailers, and more parts than I can shake a stick at…. This thing isn't going the get the attention it deserves, from me…. It a sweet rig and I'd love to make the time to get to it. But I figure I'll pass it on to someone who really wants it…. 1 Quote Link to comment

68Dat520Truck
The photo of the original J13 engine is very helpful. I am assembling engine of new 68 520 truck, which is missing lots of engine mounts/brackets, etc. The alternator bracket is missing on my truck also. Thanks, Leslie 1 Quote Link to comment
