snapp_hunter
so guys, I have had to completely redo all my wiring in my 74 620 with L18. the previous owner did some "custom" wiring with some new school relays and stuff, but the truck doesn't run. he had also done some less than stellar wiring elsewhere so i started over with the wiring, scavenging from my spare 1979 harness. i have all my lights and stuff working, but I just cannot figure out how to set up the wiring for the ignition system. it has a GM internally regulated alternator, but i dont have any factory relays, if there were any. it still has the points and condenser distributor. I have a print out of the 1974 wiring diagram, but im not sure how I would go about wiring everything back together. if i had the parts I would revert it back to stock, but i don't. can anyone provide me any guidance on even where to begin? im trying to use the factory harness plugs, i don't want it wired directly to the ign switch as the previous owner had it. thanks for any help you may be able to provide. banzai510(hainz)
ignition is a black wheite wire 12volt when Key ON From fuse box then there is a HOT start wire . this goes to the +side coil , this gets 12volts in start. the point dist you just need a wire to the -side coil to make it fire. There o coarse will be one in the harness. But id in dought just find the 2 above wires first and it should run. 1 Quote Link to comment
