jboulukos
I've noticed that my B has no EGR valve. Would putting one on improve performance, fuel efficiency or emissions? Any benefit or detriment to having one on? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It should have come with one so maybe it ot the intake was swapped for a pre '74? I wouldn't worry about it. No gains to be made really. Maybe less emisions but you won't see feel or notice anything. Quote Link to comment
Cosmonaut
Along with Mikes accurate assessment..The smog equipment back in the day was only good for the first 25-30,000 miles...Thus the Japanese engine sales program. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The EGRs sometimes has a 'counter' that turned on a reminder light on the dash. This was to remove the valve and wire brush any deposits off it. Face it, back then engines made all kinds of pollution and the emissions systems hardly affected performance and simply tried their best to clean it up. Today the emissions system tells the engine (and by extension, the driver) what it can and cannot do so that it pollutes less. It even tells the automatic when to shift. Quote Link to comment
