You'll need an injectors, ecu, harness, and maf

Did it come with it?

I mean.... this is an important part to have for sure. But you'll need an ecu and maf for an engine approximately 1.2 liters.

It pop-up on ebay.

I was the only one that placed a bid so I won the auction.

@ Draker, It comes with the intake and exhaust manifold.

I know it needs new injectors and that the fuel rail was repaired.

What do you mean by "maf"?

I am also under the impression that, I can get a ecu fairly easy. Am I correct?

@ jrock4224 I think the one you mention was a different one. I saw that one too but the price on that one went way out of my budget.

here is a picture of the exhaust

MAF = mass air flow sensor. Tells ecu how much air is going in to the motor, so it can inject the fuel correctly.

It is very likely you could use L or Z series parts to make up the missing pieces.

The A series fuel injection was used on some later fork lifts as well, so you might be able to get some parts that way

This is an old technology very rudimentary  EFI from Datsun. Probably a Bosch batch fire set up. However you can use this as the heart of a much newer updated EFI.

You need injectors, MAF, high pressure fuel pump and regulator, O2 sensor, air regulator valve, A.I.S. unit. (I see a throttle valve switch)

Might be better to get a Maga Squirt and be done with it. Very programmable with a lap top.

Has anyone done a Carb to EFI on a A Series engine?

I am contemplating on doing this.

I got a system coming from Australia.

Any input and/or positive feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would tell the seller to keep that exhaust manifold. Its nothing special and weighs quite a bit. Shipping heavy stuff from/to oz is expensive.

Sounds like I am way over my head with this swap, but I love a challenge. I will continue to gather information. I like the idea of using the "bones" of the EFI system and creating something more up to date.

Thanks everyone for the input.

A project for sure but it sure won't look 'home made' with that intake. A stand alone system like MegaSquirt' will allow you to tune and understand how it all works. The stock one is just a mystery. If something goes wrong all you can do is start replacing parts at random. EFI are great starters when cold, good mileage and performance (which is hard to do) hell, it will run upside down even.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got my inlet manifold and other goodies today.

Exhaust comes later.

It looks like the previous owner gave up on the project.

it looks like he was trying different wire harness.

Here are some shots of the stuff I got.
