flatcat19
So...this happened last night... So I am needing a fuse box. Planning on buying a more modern one. I'm at work so I'll post links later of the options I'm thinking about. My querry... What else should I be doing while replacing my fuse box? Or...what boxes have others used to upgrade their 521s? Posting a thread for this because I don't want the info to get lost in my thread. Replacing box/updates will happen in my thread. 2 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Blue Sea Systems That was one of the ones I was looking at. I didn't like that the connections weren't exposed. Do you have one installed? Pics? 1 Quote Link to comment

KoHeartsGPA
Yikes!, find the cause...though it looks like fatigue rather than an overload of the system.... 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Cause? Because it broke. I know why. It was the big fucking hole I fell in to on my way home last night. Bent my battery tie down rods which tugged on the fuse box ever so slightly. Boom! Ready for the mind fuck...I drove home. Albeit without any lights. 4 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Heres what I'm using, has two busbars built in on the back. I've been looking at one of those. But that's a long term idea. When I'm ready to do a full rewire that will be the route I go. Relays and fuses all in one spot. Now now though. 2 Quote Link to comment

DanielC
A Datsun 521 has either three or four always hot fuses. The Blue Sea fuse box has some jumpers that you can use to make the fuse block work for either application. Quote Link to comment

Elkie
Yeah I'm redoing the whole engine harness atm, so it makes more sense, the dual bus bar is nice one side is always hot the other will be ign hot. Have another one up front with relays for electric fans headlight and a/c. 1 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
pulled one out of a Nissan sentra and went to town. Had to fab two bus bars, but if was straight forward and now it's in the cab rather than the engine bay!! No rust or water. 1 Quote Link to comment
