Lockleaf
If you are splitting spot welds, the harbor freight spot weld cutter is surprisingly decent. I have cut 30 or more with one cutter and still going strong. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
There is a flat bad 620 near me. Slammed on the ground, fenders going above/into the bed. The thing looks pretty tough. I'm always driving when I see it. Never have the chance to pop a picture. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
I planned on pulling the cab to fix the floors, and I already have both rocker panels and they are indeed solid.as far as the rotten hinge mount, thankfully it's only the passengers side, drivers side is fine. I figured a flatbed was the way to go in the meantime, but I just love the lines on these trucks so much, so I will want a new bed as soon as I can afford one There is a flat bad 620 near me. Charlie69
I think he is going to do fine with this build. He has a great attitude and his expectations are great. Let me know if Gene does not respond. I will PM you his email. He is on face book but I do not do face book so I can not help you there. 1 Quote Link to comment
snapp_hunter
Gotta love the midwest.... it was 65 and sunny last weekend when I picked up the truck, and then we've had 6 inches of snow dumped on us in the last 48 hours. Now it's supposed to get back up to the 50s this weekend. And I finally have someone coming to buy my Impala on Sunday, so the truck can finilly make its way into my tiny 1 car garage.my garage is 20ft long, and the impala is 19.75 feet long so it's been impossible to do anything with all winter 1 Quote Link to comment

snapp_hunter
Well very bad news, finally had a nice day to get under the truck and found extensive frame rust. I expected some rust, but I was told the frame had been restored and was solid, and what parts I could see loading it on the trailer looked solid. So I no longer feel this vehicle would ever make it to my standards of safety for road use, however on the bright side, I have a lead on a truck in Kentucky that was in an accident and the owner doesn't want to repair it. Hopefully with my nice parts stash I will have what I need to fix it, and this one appears to be rust free 1 Quote Link to comment
snapp_hunter
Also, I have this truck that I'm going to scrap now, has some decent interior bits and a complete l20b and 4 speed trans, so if anyone needs anything let me know. I have 3 headlight buckets, and 3 trim rings for an early style grille. Also have a spare chrome front bumper.just a few of my extras off the top of my head 1 Quote Link to comment

Thin skinned? Nah man, criticism without contribution just grinds my gears. Criticism is a contribution. It points out things you didn't see, didn't think about or may have chosen to overlook. A reality check. You sure don't have to take it as negative. Hainz's post was more 'come out to PNW and buy one cheap and drive it back home'. 1 Quote Link to comment

mcordero8
I'm glad you found another truck. I hope this one works out for you. I wasn't trying to be negative when I said that truck was FUBR, but it was too far gone and it would have taken too much time, money, and energy to fix that one. Good luck on your next one. 2 Quote Link to comment
Nedleyb
Why because he offered that he was getting rid of spare parts. Parts that I happen to need. I'm not getting these pieces to sell I am currently restoring a 73 and those happen to be on of the few items I still need. I could actually use the front bumper as well but don't have the cash for it. 1 Quote Link to comment

snapp_hunter
quick question, and the answer to it probably completely ends any attempt I may make to fix this truck. are the frame rails on these 620s fully boxed? meaning, it has 4 sides and is hollow in the middle. or, are they more like an I beam shape with a top and bottom flat, and then a single vertical plate? as you can probably guess by my asking, mine feels like the latter. I just got the truck into my garage last night finally, and got under it and felt around. it wasn't good. 1 Quote Link to comment
420n620
yes, the 620's frames are boxed but are made of a inner and outer frame then welded together to make a box frame. 1 Quote Link to comment
