flatcat19
You're doing a motor swap and keeping the auto trans? Quote Link to comment
skyshadow
Correct. CA18det with auto trans. I have ran stick all my life, I don't feel the need to do it on this truck. Not going to be racer-X. Just a cruiser. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
90s Jetta radiators will have trans coolers. 1 Quote Link to comment
skyshadow
90s Jetta radiators will have trans coolers. And I'm assuming, fit the truck? Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
They are often fit in to 510s. i'm assuming that they would also fit the truck. I have no info to guarantee that. But from the mid 80's through the late 90's there are a variety of sizes available, one of which ought to be fine. 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Otherwise, take some measurements and start looking up radiators Quote Link to comment

skyshadow
Use a 1984 to 1986 720 Front Frame clip. This will do 3 things: 1 It will put you in to an outside frame rail steering box, 2 it will upgrade front brakes to vented rotor front disc brakes, 3 will give you the opportunity to do some better engine and transmission mounts. Solid mount like you have will twist and break after a couple hard burn outs or if you run much boost. Bad idea engine and trans need to be able to torque under hard acceleration and also when down shifting slowing vehicle without using brakes. By front frame clip, you mean cut a 720 frame up or is there are particular section that can be unbolted then bolted to my frame...? Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
He means cut and weld Quote Link to comment
skyshadow
Yikes, not trying to do all that. I'll stick to building a rack and pinion set up. Not cutting my frame in half. Quote Link to comment
red13
u doing power steering? Quote Link to comment
skyshadow
Yeah. Since I have the CA18det and the pump clears everything, figured it would be wise. My Xterra wheels are 7inches wide which would make manual steering a little bit of a chore. Quote Link to comment
