datzenmike
Look like factory z/zx but chromed. Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
Look like factory z/zx but chromed. Yep, and nope... professionally polished by the PO, didn't like the way they looked on his so he sold'm to me. I'm probably going to end up blacking them out, they're way to chrome/bright looking for my tastes. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Try blacking out the center panels of the spokes. What about home anodizing them? Nice gray color and a harder surface? 1 Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
I was thinking about going with black on the whole rim, and then the same orange as the car on the center spoke cut-outs. Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
Nice close up before i had it installed. PO did a great job on these, they were clean all the way around. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
What about home anodizing them? and a harder surface? ooooh totally forgot that I could have these anodized... heck yeah! Black Anodize and then have the inner painted orange. Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
ooooh totally forgot that I could have these anodized... heck yeah! Black Anodize and then have the inner painted orange. Or "Black Chrome" plated? It's actually a Nickle Oxide derivative compound so should bond well with your existing chrome plating. Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
Lol its not chromed, they're just highly polished aluminum Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Just aluminum oxide. It's dull gray/silver with orange in the spokes. Mmmm Quote Link to comment
cruznude
sure you could of found some that were all cruddy and had them anodized also and saved some money. What an insult to the guy who polished them. 2 Quote Link to comment
fritzdixxon
Darker is better! Grabbed these last year, they have been patiently waiting for spring time. Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
What an insult to the guy who polished them. Why would it be an insult to the PO? He had them polished and didn't like the look on his car, so he sold them. I bought them, they're mine, they're in great shape and i can do what I want with them. It's no insult to the guy before me. That would be like saying doing any engine swap in any car is an insult to the owner before you. 1 Quote Link to comment
Jester
What about just glass bead blasting the center to break up the bling? Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Seems like a waste to buy very well polished wheels to just cover them up, if you were just going to coat them black why get a polished set? Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
because they were the cheapest, and nicest set I had seen available in a long time. opportunity + budget + quality = me buying them To be honest, kinda funny that it actually bothers people lol 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I'm not a fan of bling either. They need to be toned down. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Gotta love some new shiny stuff! I'm probably going to end up blacking them out, they're way to chrome/bright looking for my tastes. Buys "shiny new stuff"; blacks them out to make them look just like old stuff. 3 Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
i got these cheaper than I would have paid for a broken down set that needed a whole lot more work. So, in the end... if anyone wants to pay me good money to get some nice shiny ones, then I can then go back out and try to find some broken down ones to make ya'll feel better than feel free to PM me with your offer. Other wise, to each their own ;) Quote Link to comment
cruznude
Ah, its all cool. Just don't see your reasoning. But, each their own. I love Bling on a good paint job and people stop in their tracks to notice your blinged ride Quote Link to comment
Tolkmod
if you saw it in person you'd understand. It's just way TOO much for the kind of car it is. It's also the reason why the PO didn't keep them, it just didn't fit. Besides, I plan on blacking out all the chrome on the car anyways, friggin hate the chrome look. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
What's so hard to understand? Cheap, available, not looking how he wants, so he's changing it. It has nothing to do with how polished they are, that's just happenstance. If they were fresh out of the powder coater, no one would care, so why does polished matter so much? Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
If they were fresh out of the powder coater, no one would care, so why does polished matter so much? I don't think anybody actually DOES care... just trying to figure out why the guy holding the light bulb in the socket is running around in a circle, rather than just standing still and turning his wrist. But you're right.. "To each his own". 2 Quote Link to comment
