the510keeper
Tail panel ended up having rust issues and fucked my out line up. So we cut a small area of a donor tailpanel and used it as a filler. This seemed to have the right contour for the lower edge Started stitching the inner area Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
Yes shrinking wheel, Needed a filler panel for the inside of the trunk, decided this ass needed some cock I like to put cock in every ass I play with ;) 3 Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
Pulling time, did a little heat and a little pull on a sunny day, and things are now moving along. This is now becoming franks baby. Both sides needed a little help Damaged worked out while working the trunk rust repair, once the grinder gets to it it'll look great Frank stud gun the crap out of this quarter, funny how a few hours of pulling and hammering will keep ya from a few days on inch think filler not as bad as it looks, the filler is thin, a few heavy spots, but nothing like it was. 1 Quote Link to comment
S30Jay
How many pounds of welding wire you think you'll have in this one? J/k, looking really good. I think this one may be a bit more satisfying to save than most, it's come a long way already. Quote Link to comment
Colbino
Dude, you're "captain save a ho!" Keep it up "pimp." 1 Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
Perfect project to learn alot on. There is something of all phases, to be done. still debating on how far to take it because it is a big project and I don't want it to be a high dollar car. time will tell Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
I like learning on this car because, as James said, I can't fuck this car up. I call the car stem cells due to it being a rolling abortion. It makes me love my car more every time I see it. 2 Quote Link to comment

Ranman72
This one is going to take on big changes they all have big changes in your hands many would end up as scrap or donors for other cars you do great things for these cars in fantastic ways 3 Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
Got the left quarter done, this pic is before final skim coat and 100 grit sanding. Tail light panel was decent other than the welds. It still needs final sanding. I got a lot done yesterday, the right quarter is about 80% but shit got a bit...ummm...interesting and I forgot to get pics. I'm going out Sunday to finish it up so we can get that bitch in primer, I'll grab a couple pics then. It's been a motherfucker building all the style lines out of filler, good thing there's a clean shell in the next bay to go off of. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
It's is amazing you got that thing straight. I never thought in a million years that it would be anything more than a beat rally car ever again. Quote Link to comment

the510keeper
Let's drill 5000 holes and put an inch of filler to make this look good instead of spending less time pushing it out Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
How useful was the shrinking disc? Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
With patience it's a pretty good tool however I'm sure there's techniques that I would love to learn from somebody that actually knows what they're doing for me it's a huge learning curve and kind of a guessing game in some circumstances it works great and others I just want to fucking take a shotgun to the quarter panel 2 Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
Still going, Things are looking better ad better. funny I just read through this build and noticed I mentioned this car would go to bare metal. this crap paint on here could be feathered out any good way and now most everything I'm priming is bare metal or filler. Looks fucking great. 2 Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
new discussions COLOR, I have a gallon of bamboo tan, but the cost of flatting agent is more cost then paint. and you need to buy a full gallon. So thinking of Hot Rodz Flats. olive drab green? 2 Quote Link to comment
fisch
So if you aren't going bamboo, can you go any color under the sun or is there a reason you are thinking olive? Damn I do love a bamboo paintjob on a dime though. Flat drab Olive can be great, I love it, as seen up in the Ratsun header. But it can also have the same vibe as flat black primer, which I don't love. But with you behind the gun it will be fantastic. Quote Link to comment

hobbes_the_cat
Yeah I like the idea of flat but I'm not in love with olive drab. Maybe a brighter color? When I had it I always dreamed of re-spraying one of its previous race car color combos like the Orange/green or maybe the yellow/blue that was under it... Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Damn I do love a bamboo paint job on a dime This Quote Link to comment
Duncan
Wow! I just caught this thread. You guys are really dedicated to bring that one back. I know first hand how much work it is. Great job! Quote Link to comment
S30Jay
Thinking a flat color because of all the bodywork James? I normally don't speak up about color selection as it's a personal choice, but I do like bamboo on a dime also. Quote Link to comment
