76_620 Posted February 10, 2016 Report Share Posted February 10, 2016 i have a 73 510 in the process of swapping old motor for a rebuilt L16 origional 4spd, however i am having trouble finding flywheel ring gear mine is worn out and is probly no good ? i saw some aluminum flywheels on ebay but i am not willing to pay 350 for a new one when i have mine and just paid to get it resurfaced all i need is the ring gears where can i find them or what is my best option ?????? 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike Posted February 10, 2016 Report Share Posted February 10, 2016 Split the old starter ring. Don't try to drive it off as it fits into a small groove on the flywheel. Put the flywheel in the freezer overnight. The next day heat the ring gear in your oven to 450F. Be sure it goes on with the teeth facing the same way as the old ones. The leading edges are chamfered I think. Quickly slide the hot ring onto the cold wheel and hammer tap into place 2 Quote Link to comment
