Pacific Northwest Speedshops

Recommended Posts

I just moved to Seattle from Dallas. I'd love to find out where I might be able to go to get or at least take a look at parts and even tools. Are there any service shops that you would consider taking old Japanese cars to that would know what they're doing? If it came to that.

I lived in Seattle 12 years ago and I would go up to Boeing Surplus to get all kinds of odds and ends. I have a pair of wire cutters from there that I probably got for less than $5 that are one of the best tools in my garage. I learned today from the guy I talked to at Carburetors Unlimited that sadly Boeing Surplus long is gone.

Obviously there are Lowes, Home Depot, Orrieleys, AutoZone, NAPA, Advanced auto, and the others like them. Where are the performance shops that know what they are doing and have a stock of good parts?

On the same note, are there scrap yards that would have a good selection of '70s jap stuff?

Thanks

I'm currently living in Ravensdale, and I work in Redmond. I'll probably be moving in around 4 months, I don't know where yet, but it will be within an hour commute of Redmond.

As far as how far I'm willing to go, I wouldn't put many limitations on that. I have a lot of family in Portland, so I go that direction fairly often.

Redmond is fairly central.

Autosport is a datsun friendly machine shop, as Hainz has said.

There are a couple guys (hoarders) in the area that have decent part selection.

Really not many professional Datsun mechanics though, but most guys are willing to help out if you post up an issue.

Yeah, right next to Maple Valley.

Not really looking for anything at the moment, just new to the area and trying to get to know the area... again.

Actually I suppose that's not entirely true. I'd love to get a hold of a good hood, dash and grill for a 620 (early grill)

You can use the classified link at the top of the page for parts wanted. I've gotten a few hard to find parts that way.

you could also PM Ted, his user name is tdaaj

He's one of those hoarders that likes to make a buck off his stash.

There will likely be some meets coming up now that spring is almost here. You could bring your Datto and meet some of the other datto heads in the area.
