86-720
I have a 86 720 standard cab. It doesn't have a radio in it . Instead it has a shelf. I am wanting to put a radio in it but when I go to crutchfield and try to look at what radios would work for my truck it says they don't fit. Is it just a normal sized single din? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This is the 720 dash I put in my 620. IIRC the shelf had been cut out but I just slipped the CD/radio unit in and secured it. The bezel covers the terrible cutting the PO did to the dash. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
The reason no radios fit is they are usually too deep and hit the back of the dash radio pocket. Just find a single din of your choice and Make it fit. Here are some custom Dashes NIS720 did. 86-720
Does anybody have a pic of the radio wiring harness for my 86 720 ? I took a pic of what I think is the harness for my radio . I was going to post a pic but can't seem to get it to post. Any idea why I can't post pics ? 1 Quote Link to comment

kb25t17
The single Dins made without a CD player are generally shallower in depth than the units with a CD player Quote Link to comment
86-720
I just bought a pioneer mvh-x380bt deck. It is shallow but I still will have to trim the dash pocket a little bit . I also got some pioneer 4 inch speakers for the kick panels . I think I am going to add a pair of 6x9s behind the seats . It should sound ok. Anything is better than no radio/ speakers . I can't believe that this will be the first radio in a 30 yr old truck. 1 Quote Link to comment
86-720
Should I just run new wires or does anybody have the wire schematics for the factory harness? Quote Link to comment
Seaway
I would run new wires if I were you. I am about to do the same thing with my truck and as small as the cab is and as simple as the install will be, new wiring seems the easiest. No need to troubleshoot old wiring. Quote Link to comment
