Radio?

86-720

Recommended Posts

I have a 86 720 standard cab. It doesn't have a radio in it . Instead it has a shelf. I am wanting to put a radio in it but when I go to crutchfield and try to look at what radios would work for my truck it says they don't fit. Is it just a normal sized single din?

The reason no radios fit is they are usually too deep and hit the back of the dash radio pocket.  Just find a single din of your choice and Make it fit.

Here are some custom Dashes NIS720 did.

Does anybody have a pic of the radio wiring harness for my 86 720 ? I took a pic of what I think is the harness for my radio . I was going to post a pic but can't seem to get it to post. Any idea why I can't post pics ?

I just bought a pioneer mvh-x380bt deck. It is shallow but I still will have to trim the dash pocket a little bit . I also got some pioneer 4 inch speakers for the kick panels . I think I am going to add a pair of 6x9s behind the seats . It should sound ok. Anything is better than no radio/ speakers . I can't believe that this will be the first radio in a 30 yr old truck.

I would run new wires if I were you. I am about to do the same thing with my truck and as small as the cab is and as simple as the install will be, new wiring seems the easiest. No need to troubleshoot old wiring.

Are you Chad?
