Guest 77ratsun
Could it be that my carb is getting to much gas so its flooding it and it idles really high 1 Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
Did you check for spark and strength of it?, are plugs wet or dry? 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Do you own a timing light? Do you own feeler guages? Is your chain set properly? Have you removed the distributor recently? What did you do that, all of a sudden, caused a change in condition? 2 Quote Link to comment
Guest 77ratsun
The spark strength is pretty good The plugs are sometimes a tiny bit wet but mostly dry I don't own a timing light but I will borrow one from a friend Yes I own feeler gages and I gaped my points I'm pretty sure the chain is set properly and yes I have removed the distributor a few times I bought it in the condition that it's in 1 Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
Hard start warm means too rich. Hard start cold too lean. Find the happy place in the middle. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Could it be that my carb is getting to much gas so its flooding it and it idles really high Take the air filter top off and look when the engine is warmed up. Is the choke plate closed or partly closed like this... ...or open like this... 1 Quote Link to comment
Guest 77ratsun
I don't have an air filter on it And it doesn't get warmed up because I can't get it started But I'm really leaning towards the carb on this one Quote Link to comment

KoHeartsGPA
Spring broken?, or if it's electric choke make solenoid is bad? Quote Link to comment
Guest 77ratsun
Yes the spring is broken 1 Quote Link to comment

Guest 77ratsun
The firing order on an l20b is 1342 right? Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
Counterclockwise, but that doesn't fix the flooding that a stuck choke causes. Why do you ask for advice and not take it? 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The choke coil holds it closed. If broken the choke would be open. You need the choke for starting and running in cold weather but it should warm up and shut off in 10 min or so. If the choke stays on or part on when the engine is warmed up you'll flood and it will be hard to re-start. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
when cold choke falp is closed when you start truck there is a wire to the carb that heats up a coil spring an thus opens the flap to let more air in as it warms. make sure you have the wire that goes to the carb. timming lights are not 300$ I give them away Quote Link to comment
