xHighOctanex
Hello, I have a 1984 720 kc 4x4 z24 5 speed etc etc. Truck ran alright, got the exhaust put on and now it will idle alright, it's lean but it'll idle alright, but you go to drive it and the second the truck moves the temp gauge will just go straight up basically it acts like a speedo it moves that fast, also you can't really drive it. You go to move and it'll start to go then just sputter, to drive you have to floor it and that'll sort of work until about 3rd gear. After that the truck sputters and tries to shut off or does shut off if you let it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The gauge might be after market as the 720 temp, like all Nissan temp gauges, takes about 10 seconds to read from off when the key is turned on. Started acting up right after exhaust was replaced? California, so electronic feedback carb. Is the 02 sensor plugged into the exhaust manifold? Quote Link to comment
xHighOctanex
Yes, and wired in. The carburetor that is on the truck is brand new and not smog legal, it has 2 wired that I had to match to the old plug from the old carb. It ran fine before Quote Link to comment
xHighOctanex
So turned out to be a bad battery ground, when you would move it would try to ground through the temp gauge. New battery cable and it's all back to normal Quote Link to comment
