Finally got a 521. and it's my daily driver!

Depends. Do you want to fix the front or fix the rear?

Tjose big wheels and tires are doing you no favors, no matter what mrbigtanker says.

 

 

Any plans to lower it?

First off, I REALLY hate the wheels and tires. I definitely want a smaller, lower profile tire. And I definitely wanted to lower it a very small amount if possible. I don't want to completely slam it. And tbh, I think front and back need a total overhaul. But I need to plan my sending wisely. I don't make enough to get everything in one big shopping trip like I'd like to. So I need to assess the areas of most importance. Thank you for the advice.

So pick the wheels you want. And then get tires. But that's up to you, I considering stretching to be stupid once you pass a point. Like 10" wheels with 195's or something. Now if you go with a 8" wide you will have to put for the most part a 195/50/15.althougha 205 would look better but now you won't have the look with the drop you can get with a larger 205 on a 15". So with all that said if you go with a 15x8 a 195/50/15 would look fine with a at least 3" drop.

 

Where are you located?

 

Also front is free to drop and back is like 20-35.00 dollars for blocks.

I'm about an hour out of Sacramento California in a county nobody has ever heard of haha its canned Amador county and people really only know the casino here. I would just like the truck to be able to use it's whole turning radius, and have a little more suitable wheels and tires. Those things I have on it now just look massive to me. I really want to put an end to the rubbing tire situation. Oh and it 100% needs an alignment. But thankfully I work just up the road so she doesn't get driven too far. Just around town until I get the tires and wheels it needs. I also didn't mention these tires are basically hoosier slicks LOL.

So what I mentioned above will work great for you. You will have a whole new truck that you will love. Also as for alignment only toe in and out so very simple. You can use a tape measure.

thank you very much. I'm extremely excited to start this! I might shop around and get pictures of what I'm thinking about getting and maybe I can get some input on the choices. I'd hate to spend perfectly good money on the wrong stuff haha. Something I'm sure has happened to everyone.

^ ^ ^ I would go 2" blocks for a start. See how you like the ride. Blocks are cheap. 

 

 

The 195/50R15 for tires...too firm; no give. I have 195/65. They fit fine on 8 inch wide wheels and really fill out the arches. 

 

 

 

 

When you speak "level out" you need to know where you're going/coming from. 

Reindexing/adjusting the torsion bars is an easy task. Use the search to see how others have done it.

Thank you. And I'll have to watch installation videos and all sorts of stuff. Please bare with me here this is my very first project vehicle. I've changed rims, and brakes, and fluids and filters, but my experience is limited. So this will be one giant learning experience for me.

Its takes no more than $50 dollars to lower a 521 as low as you please. Lower it according to your roads. Too low will start destroying crossmembers and create new rattles everyweek. Too high on small tires and wheels looks funky. But we all have our own taste buds. The wheels and tire combo mentioned should be good with 3 inch blocks. Get proper blocks that align diff, or you will be swapping u-joints every 2 months, or dont do Autozone u joints

I'm not going to lie.... It rattles. But it's mostly coming from the seat that isn't bolted in properly. It's noisy. But I don't want to screw anything up. I don't want this to ever be non drivable due to an error on my part. I would be crushed. That being said I know there is always a risk. But if I can avoid ruining it that would be preferred haha. Right now, this is my one and only vehicle. So I'm trying to be careful. I do have other people's cars I can use if I need and I live walking distance from everything. I just couldn't pass on the truck for the price.

I am interested in what front suspension you have, or is it a whole 4X4 frame made into a 2wd, you see if that really is a 4X4 frame/front clip the spindles are different, 2wd front spindles have 7 1/2 inches between the ball joints, while 4wd spindles there is 12 3/4 inches between the ball joints, this makes it very hard to lower, and I don't know if it is possible to lower it much at all, as it was made to be higher.

Can you get a photo of your front suspension with a wheel removed?

Do you have 15 inch rims/tires?

As I said, that frame was not familiar to me, if it is a 620 frame that has ball joints, then you are styling as you have front disc brakes, and that would be my guess from the looks of the tension rods.

I didn't know the 620 had plates on the front of the frame with holes in them, that is what made me think 4X4.

I believe you will be able to drop it with the 620 front clip, and you have a bunch of OEM and aftermarket upgrades you can buy/find at the wrecking yards that will bolt right on.
