Hondanx250
Hey Guys, I am switching my Vacuum line ridden Carb to a Weber Carb. It has a electric chock. Before i go cutting wires thought i should bring it up here first. So to get it to work. I need to cut these two wires and then leave the one to the Electric Choke? Would that work? Thanks Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Why do you need to cut anything? That just makes it hard for anyone to figure out the wiring later. Just unplug the old carb when you remove it. For the choke, use a wire TAP into the existing car-side harness (at the choke wire) with a new length of wire and a female blade terminal to connect to the new carb's choke. Amazed that the '79 carb wiring is that different from my '78, on that I just unplugged the 3 INDIVIDUAL wires (2 blades and one bullet) from the carb. I ended up using 2 of them since my Weber carb has an idle cut solenoid and taped the BCDD one out of the way.. But I seem to recall my '80 and 81s both had that molded connector (never put webers on those) Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
I cut the other wiring connector end off the carb and tap into that. That way I avoid permanent modification to the wiring harness in the car. 1 Quote Link to comment

So i don't need the adapter. And i would rather not cut the wiring harness. Thanks for the help guys. Quote Link to comment

That's how my 32/36 is set up. New wire running from fuse block to choke. Quote Link to comment

soundboi
idle cut solenoid goes to where exactly? like where does the wire go to, i do believe my car the wires are a bit mixed up. I noticed on my carb that theres a wire at the back with a bullet connector. idle changes when i send either a + or a - to it, cant remember. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Blue wire is choke heater. Red is idle cut solenoid. Quote Link to comment
Hondanx250
I cut the Adapter that on the Carb and wired it to the new one. I know ill wont be using the old carb anymore so don't need it. It seems to work, I see the Weber flutter when i try to start it. Quote Link to comment
