Switching Carb to Weber.

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, I am switching my Vacuum line ridden Carb to a Weber Carb. It has a electric chock. Before i go cutting wires thought i should bring it up here first. So to get it to work. I need to cut these two wires and then leave the one to the Electric Choke? Would that work?

Why do you need to cut anything?  That just makes it hard for anyone to figure out the wiring later.

Just unplug the old carb when you remove it.  For the choke, use a wire TAP into the existing car-side harness (at the choke wire) with a new length of wire and a female blade terminal to connect to the new carb's choke.

Amazed that the '79 carb wiring  is that different from my '78, on that I just unplugged the 3 INDIVIDUAL wires (2 blades and one bullet) from the carb.  I ended up using 2 of them since my Weber carb has an idle cut solenoid and taped the BCDD one out of the way..  But I seem to recall my '80 and 81s both had that molded connector (never put webers on those)

I cut the other wiring connector end off the carb and tap into that. That way I avoid permanent modification to the wiring harness in the car.

Yes, After looking if over. That is what i am gonna do. I will not going to be using the other carb again. So i don't need the adapter. And i would rather not cut the wiring harness.

Thanks for the help guys.

This.

That's how my 32/36 is set up. New wire running from fuse block to choke.
