Rebuilding z24 questions

I'm rebuilding my z24 and have some questions, first when putting the timing chain on I put the odd colored link on the punch mark on the bottom sprocket and on the 2 on the cam sprocket correct? When I get the engine running hopefully Friday what is the usual idle speed with the webber carb? Also how do you pre-lube the engine?

I believe the Z24 has 40 links between the dot on the bottom sprocket and the dot on the #2 position on the cam sprocket.

If the engine was well lubed during the build, you can simply fill the oil pump by hand and fire it up.

You could also fill the oil pan by pouring the oil over the cam and rockers. Take the oil pump off and fill it up with engine oil and install. You could half fill the filter but not more than half or it just runs out while spinning it on. Take the plugs out and crank over with the starter for 5 seconds. This removed the compression making it spin faster. Check the valve train and continue cranking in 5 second increments until oil begins showing on the cam. Then start it up.

I used lots of assembly lube in construction, filled the oil pump with fresh oil, and then right before cranking, I poured 50w all over the whole valve train and covered the entire chain by manually turning the motor over. Then I disconnected the fuel pump and cranked the engine until the oil pressure light turned off. Hooked the fuel back up, and started it up.
