78 79 620 Front Fender Protectors: Wil they fit 72-74 620's?

I've researched the parts manual and there are 2 part numbers for inner fenders.  For the RHS:

64100-B5000:   to 74-08, and

64100-B9500:   74-09 to 78-07

I don't know where the 79 model year part # is listed in the parts manual.

The RH protector is 63880-B9800:  77-08 to ...

I want to put the late model protectors on my 74 and am wondering if they will fit the B5000 inner fenders?

Has anyone does this upgrade?

OK I got a set and now I'm trying to figure how they are supposed to be installed.

The outer edge is straightforward with "S" clips to the fender opening lip.

Through Hole Fasteners:

There are 2 or 3 fastener holes on the top and forward portion of the inboard edge that go into the inner fender.  At first, I thought it would be a simple barb plastic button pressed in from the protector side, but in the parts manual, it looks like some kind of "bolt and nut" arrangement but it's not an obvious bolt and nut.  Probably some kind of plastic 2 piece fastener.

Square Notches:

The aft inboard edge is the real puzzle.  There are square notches on the protector inboard aft edge.  This edge appears to overlap the spot weld flange of the firewall/footbox.  It is possible there is some kind of special clip that catches this weld flange however I have no idea.
