Coop.6986
Hey guys, I have a 1972 Datsun 620 and I'm looking to upgrade the front end suspension. I currently have Redrilled the front hubs to 5x5 and installed an early s10 rear end. That was my cheap and easy way to 5 plug swap mine. Now I'm building a turbo 3.8 buick v6 for it and I'm going to need better stopping power and a overall better front end. I'm looking to do a 5 lug disc brake conversion (doesn't have to be 5x5, pattern is irrelevant to me as long as it's 5 lug), ball joints it possible, tubular upper control arms if possible, and I would love to be able to run a Ride Tech Shockwave bag in the front. I'm looking for your guys opinions, info, and I would be greatly thankful if you had any parts lists to do this. Thanks ahead of time. I also posted a few pictures of my bullet nose so you get an idea of what I'm working with. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
If you want heavy duty with bling/cool factor, then you want Z32 brakes (aka 90-96 Nissan 300zx). 4 pot front brakes, nice cast Nissan print on them, 5x114.3 lug and they have been used on 620s before, so you might even be able to obtain premade brackets to fit them. Other common options include q45, 5 lug 240sx, 90s skyline brakes, or newer 350/370z brakes, up to and including a brembo option. All 5x114.3 This is assuming you intend to use Nissan parts. If not, you're more on your own. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I've heard rumors of Toyota truck front suspension fitting. Early to mid 80s stuff. It looks close. Never measured. Never found a thread about it working. Worth a shot. Another source...contact a member named Beebani. Pick his brain. Bee is the guy who makes A-arms and brake conversion brackets for our trucks. Look him up on eBay too. See what he's currently selling. Mklotz70 is another golden nugget of information. Look up his threads. 1 Quote Link to comment
skyshadow
With all of our disc conversion choices that retain 6 lug, whats the purpose of a 5 lug conversion? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Good question. Just to show it can be done? Never understood going to so much trouble. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Rim options are largest in the 5 lug world Quote Link to comment
kelowg
^^ have to admit, hard to find 6lug wheels that fit and dont look like they belong on a 4x4. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Chev, Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, and more including later Nissan trucks all have 6 bolt rims. It's a truck. Quote Link to comment
skyshadow
I have no problem finding good looking wheels. And yeah, it's a truck man Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
You asked why people did it. That's one of the main reasons. Whether or not the rest of us think it's necessary, that's why lots of guys do it. Quote Link to comment
