Rick-rat
Never have seen a 521 small block, have seen 488 small blocks. Is this GM, Ford, or Mopar small block to start with? 2 Quote Link to comment
paradime
No Rick, see the block in your mind, then you tell us what it is. 2 Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
Here we are about a month ago. Had seen pictures of a guy who had done a V8 521 build, I took the easy way out and decided to cut the firewall. 4 Quote Link to comment

Anderson521
With the firewall removed, it was a piece of cake to drop the motor in. Picked the motor up in San Francisco. Has mild cam, edelbrock intake, and holly carburetor. I have a short water pump, but still need to acquire the alternator bracket. 8 Quote Link to comment
Draker
What did you do for braking? 1 Quote Link to comment

Anderson521
What did you do for braking? was thinking about doing the disc brake swap in the front, everything is currently disconnected in that department, most likely going with a mustang rear end so itll have drums in the back. 1 Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
fuck brakes..I'm thinking parachute! 2 Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
Heres a little interior shot, for the transmission I wanted a manual with an overdrive. After doing some research I chose the NV2500. These come stock in mid 90's Chevy silverados. No need to deal with belhousing issues, shift linkage (top loader) or any of that it just bolts right up using the clutch, slave cylinder and flywheel from the silverado 7 Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
i understand you guys are purists and it is a shame to cut up a firewall but i do have the time money and experience to see the project through. Enjoy the thread. 5 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Most of these threads end poorly.. but I always reserve hope. Looks like it's going well so far. 2 Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
I think most of us are just fine with the cutting when the end is a functional vehicle. Looks good so far. Nv2500, that's a 4 speed correct? 1 Quote Link to comment
Rick-rat
its just a chevy 350 out of a 70 c-10Thanks for clearing that up for me. Maybe your thread title should say something like, Putting small block in a 521 1 Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
The nv2500 is actually a 5 speed, first is kinda low. not a granny but close since its out of a truck. I went this route because I wanted to cruise low rpm on the freeway 1 Quote Link to comment
