Kennyt
I just rebuilt my z24 for 83 720. Complete machine work on engine with comp cam and weber carb. Had weber carb on engine before rebuild. The engine runs great but has a skip when parked at various rpms except idle. Engine did this before the renuild also. All new components with exception of distributor and coils Any ideas on the skip? Carb adjustment maybe? It is adjusted per redline documentation. All suggestions greatly appreciated 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There are 8 plug wires jammed on that distributor cap with not much space between them. Inspect for damage like cracks around the posts or carbon tracking/ Take a good look at the condition of the plug wires... old worn damaged? Poor insulation could cause the odd spark to jump to another wire or to ground. New plugs? Check them. Are they clean or are some worse than others? DO NOT replace the coils unless they are absolutely bad with no output. These are better than any you could buy and seldom go bad. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Just in case place an old plug in the coil output wires, place on a grounded surface and crank engine over with starter. Is there spark from both?. Last would be a check of the valve lash. 1 Quote Link to comment
