Humboldt
I'm thinking of naming it the Gearbox Cross Thread Member. Can someone please definitively tell me what size and thread these are? That is, providing the previous owner didn't bugger them up worse than I have. '72 Goon. I have searched forums to no avail. Thanks! 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks! The threads are part of the tunnel and are welded in place. If stripped you can drill out and tap to an oversize bolt of your choice. The 510 rear trans mount cross member to body bolts are.... M8 X 1.25 for automatic .... standard may be longer or shorter, so what ever fits. That's your job.. 2 Quote Link to comment
Humboldt
I'm getting it that 1.25 is Fine thread for 10 mm, which this is. I'm not under the car right now but the smaller 8mms go from cross member to tranny, vs. chassis. I just wanted to confirm the fine thread. I am novice and it's cold and low under that Goon. Especially after substitute teaching 5th grade today. Your kids beat this 65 yr old down! 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
8M X 1.25 should be for the cross member to the body for a 510. The 10M X 1.25 was for the S30 cross member to body as Doctor510 said. Try one of each, one will fit. 2 Quote Link to comment
