B2Fresh
This is a picture of how it looked like when is got side swiped. Check out how the front wheel is pushed forward after it got hit. Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
So I'm on the hunt for some 280zx strut assembly since I'm planning on lowering this thing. So if anyone has any for sale please send me a PM with your pics and price. Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
Ok you've already seen that I'm having a little bit of a problem with my Lft front strut assembly being bent when someone side swiped the car and nailed the front wheel and bent the strut rod (straightened and fixed) and also bent the lower control arm bolt that bolts up to the crossmember (straightens and fixed). But the strut housing itself is bent and it needs to be replaced. Here is my question. What are my options since I'm going to lower the car in the first place, I know the best thing to do or get and the easiest way to achieve this is by installing 280zx front struts assemblies with the brake system. So I went to the local wrecking yards and there is nothing out there for parts (ZX) to get the strut/brake assembly for my ride. Also there's definitely no B210's out there to even get the one strut housing to replace the one that's bent on my car. So I need to know is there another option that I can go or do to achieve in lowering my ride that's not going to be difficult in getting and installing and be affective in ride and handling and that's not going to brake the wallet either.? Or if anyone has a B210 Lft front strut housing or 280zx strut/brake system for sale, please hit me up via PM, I would greatly appreciate it. Any resources would help also and info. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Did you place an ad in the classifieds? Link top left of page under the RATSUN.NET logo. Click on it and select suspension This keeps the forums free for discussions. In addition not everyone reads the B210 section. If someone is looking to sell zx struts the classifieds is where they will be looking. Widen your search to include the '81-'84 Maxima sedan or wagon. I put Maxima goon struts on my 710 and love them. The rotors are vented and just a mm or so smaller diameter than the zx and have massive calipers. Take note that zx or Maxima rotors may not clear your 13" rims. 1 Quote Link to comment

Like the bottom spring cups or the springs them selves.? Would I need to use the camber cups also. One other question, will the Maxima struts lower the front end as the ZX would.?I'm no so worried about the calipers being bigger that the B210's cuz I'm running 15 inch wheels on my car.. I appreciate the info Mike. Thanks 1 Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
Update for the day.. Well I went on ebay a. Bought some of the interior parts that I needed that was missing when I purchased the car. And also bought the front lip to go along with the fender mirrors that I picked up a couple of weeks ago of CL. But I'm still on the look out for the Lft front strut assembly to be able to drive it. So if anyone has or knows of any out there please keep me in mind. Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
Ok I got my stuff that I purchased from eBay and kept me busy over the weekend so here's what came in for the ride. Left and Right upper back seat latches.. Retractable seat belt covers.. And also passenger side rear sill panel that I didn't get a picture of.. Another item that I did get and have yet to bolt up till later down the line during the build. Mk1 Volkswagen front lip. Until I pick up parts I will keep you posted. Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
So I had posted on the "Body/Interior" regarding if anyone had did there own repair or knew a way to repair a dash cap without buying a dash cap cover. So I took it upon myself to repair mine on a budget. Here are some of the steps I took to get it where it sits. I will be posting pictures as I go till it's final completion. Before pics as I had removed it from the dash. Here I "V" grooved the crack and remove the flared up edges to make it flat and even when I fill in the cracks. Here after I "V" grooved the cracks I filled the cracks with body filler and sanded smooth and flat to match the body of the dash pad. As for the speaker area I glued "Tulle" fabric to keep the filler from flowing out from the bottom of the dash pad. I glued the "Tulle" both top and bottom as pictured. There after I glued the "Tulle" I filled in the speaker cracks flush covering the speaker holes also. So this is where I left off until I get the rest of the materials to get to the next step. I will keep you posted with additional pictures. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Won't bondo just crack? Isn't there something softer you can sculpt into shape and then cover to give a nice appearance? Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
If immobile it's fine plus I'm applying a thin (1/4") thick foam on top of the dash pad and covering it with new vinyl to finish the job. Been talking to an upholstery guy and this how he redoes bad cracked dash pads. Seen his work and they look like new.. Quote Link to comment

I will take a picture of the underside so you can see where all the screws are located. All I used was a stubby screwdriver to unscrew them. 1 Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
Hey Iski. Here is the picture of the underside of the dash pad and where I marked with yellow tape of the location of every screw hole on the pad. It's pretty easy to take off really. I hope it helps.. 1 Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
Any other way you would have to take the whole complete dash board out to access the dash pad screws. Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
This is my dash when I took it apart to access the dash pad.. Quote Link to comment

B2Fresh
So here is that dash pad all filled and primed ready for the thin layer of foam and to be rapped with the new vinyl . 2 Quote Link to comment
Sierra
Looks really good! Based on the picture, I don't event think it needs the vinyl. 1 Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
By all means it's not perfect, I just wanted to fill the cracks and make it even for when I glue the foam down it won't have an uneven imperfections for when I glue the vinyl over the foam. Hopefully I'll try to get it done here soon.. Quote Link to comment

B2Fresh
Great job. Now I wish I would have saved my cracked up dash. Thanks I appreciate it.I just have to improvise on saving some of my parts that are hard to find or replace for that matter.. Also I just couldn't see myself paying $100+ on a dash cap either.. I like the fact that I did it or one can do the work and do it at there style and detail or even custom.. 1 Quote Link to comment
tmanhwm
That dash looks incredible! I'm working up the courage to fix mine as well. Also, love the graphics on the pic of your first B210! May have to do something like that to mine! 1 Quote Link to comment
B2Fresh
So over the weekend I had the chance to finish the dash for my ride.. Here is are some pictures of the end results.. Here is the dash with the foam glued to it and trimmed to shape. Then I took some 80 grit sand paper to shape it to the dash edges before it gets rapped with the new material.. And here is the end results after being rapped with the new material. 1 Quote Link to comment
