Motschrocker
I was under my car and i noticed a bent plate (i guess) where the transmission joins with the engine. See pic below. How big of a problem is this? What issues will this cause? The fluid tou are seeing is from an oil leak. Quote Link to comment
shacks510
It's a debris cover for the bellbousing. Automatic vehicles have a two piece plate; the bottom is easily removable to get to the torque converter bolts. Manual cars have a single piece since there is nothing needed to access. On both cars, there should be two bolts holding the cover against the bottom of the bell. It being bent like that can let debris in and potentially cause a problem. Find some appropriate hardware and fix the bottom of the plate to the bell. There's bare holes that pass through the mouth of the bell. It should flatten out enough. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
^^ yep, what he said. Just put a bolt through the bell housing and be done.. or fix the oil leak... then be done. 1 Quote Link to comment

tr8er
Get a can a good stuff insulation foam, spray that hole closed. Done. And sign it Also. You may find sheared bolts if that plate was snagged while reversing. If so, you will need an easy out and some luck. That plate in your way won't help any. I'd clamp it down to the bell while working. Quote Link to comment
