lightz
Thanks Guys, yes it runs and drives, just have few things left working on the exhaust and bleeding the brakes. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
When I ran drum brakes all around I found that keeping them adjusted was the key to having them work there best. Nice work bring this one back to being road worthy. Congrats! 1 Quote Link to comment
lightz
Charlie69, Thanks, had to be creative with little funds. Drums brake take a little to get use to and you are right it has to be adjusted to get them working, soon should get a video with the pickup. 1 Quote Link to comment

lightz
Hello Guy, This is a very old topic but i have to ask because i am doing something wrong, i lowered the front of the truck with the torsion bar but i thing i am doing it wrong because as other guys described they reindex the torsion bar and there truck would be really low. Guy let me know what i am doing wrong, the tire size is 195/50/15 15x8 rim. 1 Quote Link to comment
lightz
( i think ) 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I think i have the same size tire on my 521.... If I read your question right, what I did was set it lower than what I wanted by indexing the torsion bar then used the adjusters to bring it back up to my desired ride height.. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
What happens is that the torsion bar arms can get below the cross member when you don't re-index them, then when it drags on the ground it can ruin the torsion bars and then you need a new ones, that is why you re-index them. 1 Quote Link to comment
lightz
Morning guys, Thanks for the information and i go back and try it again, Question once i have remove the torsion bar and mark the spot were it was, raise the wheel to the desire height now i am installing back the torsion bar to the spot were it was, is this were i reindex it, is it from my original mark, i go one spline up or down. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
The index comes down to desired ride height and how the adjusters are lined up, but yes you have the right idea... you'll need to put it back on the ground with it's weigh to see where it ends up.... the biggest thing is like Wayno said is make sure your adjusters are not gonna hit anything while driving.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I set the front of my truck on jack stands get under it and adjust the torsion bars and the remove jack stands and see how it sets. Repeat process as necessary. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/63543-video-how-to-reindex/ Quote Link to comment
gene knight
me and charlie reindexed my torsion bars on my 521 and then adjusted the bolts after 521 was on the tires to desired ride height 1 Quote Link to comment
lightz
Morning Guys, First time i did it, did mark the torsion bar and it fell, two strikes, this is what i notice when remove the torsion bar completely on both side, passenger side seat lower about 1/2 inch plus bump stumps removed also, so i am confused with this one. Could it be one shock is blown and thats why? any thoughts on this. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Shocks should have nothing to do with ride height.... they only are there so your not bouncing like a low rider.... The 1/2" you should be able to correct with the adjusters..... how are those set?.... 1 Quote Link to comment
