isomswim
So ive been trying to get a lot of tasks done on my 620. kind of all over the place. I have the front hubs removed and old wheel studs in the front. I got the Dorman studs and the knurling was not wide enough and i stripped one hole completely trying to tighten the new studs into place. So then I ordered the Nissan studs and same thing, but I didnt strip another hole this time. Are there any wider knurling studs that will work? Or any way to repair the knurling? Im at a loss thats why I turned to here Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Maybe you are doing it wrong. The tightening of the lug nut should pull the splined stud into the hub and seat it, not turn it and strip the metal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vm3WvmfM9Oo Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
The hub is supposed to be just a plain circle. It's not splined, so there is nothing to strip. Sometimes there appears to be splines in the hub, but these are just marks left by the old studs. Quote Link to comment
isomswim
I wish you were right Mike but I can push them in by hand and they seat all the way. Some are tight but even those are easily pushed back out. I'm going to try a slightly wider one today and see what happens. Quote Link to comment
isomswim
Ok got a Dorman 610-240 stud and it Knurling is supposed to be 13.00mm, thread measure is M12-1.25. Actual measure with my digital caliper is 12..90 roghly. It fits tight and I was able to snug it into the "stripped" hole and it holds. Hope this helps some else out in the future. 1 Quote Link to comment
