femtnmax
Hi What is the trick to installing the rear extension housing? There is the pivot piece that needs to engage the lowest shift rod, and the shift lever fore-aft rod needs to be in alignment to engage the two shift rods and the pivot when everything is in neutral. Thanks for your help. Phil Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't have a manual that covers the 63A. However the 71B may be similar and worth a try. Stand transmission upright on 2x4s with tail in the air. Make certain all shift rods are in the neutral position. Turn and hold striking rod fully clockwise. This will move striking lever to the right. Align striking lever with the cut out portions of the 4/5th shift rod and allow it to slip into this neutral gate. I found rotating the case with the striking rod attached helps. I practiced several times first then added the sealer to the adapter case half and assembled it. The first attempt was a messy disaster with sealer on so practice first.. 1 Quote Link to comment
shacks510
You may have to remove the pin that limits the rotation of the striking rod so it can turn more. The pin is just before the shifter hole, fastened with a snap ring. Carefully pry it off, pull out pin, assemble case, then insert pin and clip it. Quote Link to comment
