tekkjosen
(1/3) God damn... two months since last activity here... Things have happened, but unfortunately not on the datsun  but will make an update anyways B) Think it's appropriate now to change the topic title here from datsun 140j to "the datsun and all the other shit in the garage"  :P To sum it up, I've had the rolla (RatRolla) at EU approvement without doing anything almost, just to see what I had to do to get it approved :) was badly corroded in both sills right in front of the wheel arches, big rust holes in doors... reason: sharp edges against pedestrians   the funny thing is I could actually just tape over my whole door and it would get approved from that :P but wanted to see if it went through with the rusty door... And also a exhaust leak I had to fix. So actually a bit surprised, was almost sure of that I had to change some links or bushings or something, but again.. the car have pretty few km on it  So about two months ago me and a bud were down testing some wheels for his corolla he thought of buying. Went on Finn.no while we were driving: Norways answer to craigslist and found some cheap tires for my hayashi wheels nearby the wheels we were test fitting  BTW: wheels on rolla : SSR mkII.... also unpainted from original he said, and imported from Japan  Anyways, got the tires on the wheels and on the car. Since the wheels got the original paint and everything they look a little bit shabby, so started with polishing the wheel dish :) And was a massive difference, still some marks in them when looking closely, but way to good for the rolla :) when they're going on the datsun when that's finished they will get proper sanded down and polished nicely B) And after I polished I coildn't avoid painting the centers again, sanded down and painted (though with a spraycan, but happy with the result :) ) Also borrowed a front blinker from a friend, cause mine was crushed the glass on, and fixed my broken tail lights as well, in case they were going to say anything on that on EU and I had to get new ones :poke: The Rat part is strong with this one   Not to noticable this one though :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(2/3) Ready to test for EU... And of course the day I went for EU, I wanted to see if the wheels also got approved so was still mounted and this happened the morning I was going to deliver the car before work in the morning  <_< So after rushing on the winter tires and got it delivered I got the list of things to fix wich I wrote on the top here... Was a bit laid back and were going to fix the things alittle by little, but got invited to join my friend for Gatebil very soon, and we thought it would be really nice to take both rollas down :) So fixed the car in a couple days and shipped it off for an aftercontrol again :) Sills like this on both sides. Just my snapchat story from an evening :P Going for a Ratlook on this so most of the work is for being fuctional and most of all just to get through the EU purpose :) not so much apperance focused ;) But didn't turn out to bad either :) Same procedure on the other side to popped a plate over my left door as well to cover the rustholes, think it really put a nice touch on the car :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(3/3) And after fixing the rust in sills and door, and the exhaust leak from a connection on the middle. it was off to aftercontrol, and it got approved ! :) then we had 2 days before Gatebil, and just 1,5 day before a local meet to make the rolla something to look at  So started the same day it got EU approved :) Had ordered lowering blocks for it earlier, but got 2" instead of 3"... but got new ones in the mail before we started luckily :) this was going to be stupid low.. New vs old U-bolts  Had to bend them alittle to make em fit through the plate holding it together, and customize some of the mounts alittle :) Also lowered it in the front, used actually 1x volvo 240 lowering spring a friend had lying around. Chopped it in half and used on both sides. So actually driving with like 14cm spring or something, right above where the damper bottoms out  Not a big fan of the chopped springs, lifting up the car and springs are all wobbly... but had to lower it quick and this was the best we could do in short time. Am interested in coilovers later, but will maybe buy some lowering springs, and use a MR2 rear damper in the front wich is much shorter later :) Original: Actually don't have a photo of the lowering springs, weird  when the rest is so pic-heavy  Had to reduce the bump stop quite abit to  the axle just layed on it before I cut them, making it stiff like hell when it just compresses the bump stop in the back :P But after lowering in front and back, getting the newly painted hayashis on, some ratty rust fix on the door and some spacers for the wheels it started to take some shape :) Removed a mufler underneath and smacked on a 3,5" seethrough muffler in the end, sounding actually really awesome    just for fun though  And after some smaller details, and mounting the fendermirrors I bought for the datsun, nardi wheel and borrowed a roof rack a friend had on his cressida. we were ready for roadtrip   And we went to Gatebil, placed the rollas for show. Finally the summer has come to Norway to   Actually my friend also won a price for his, "1 of 5 best japanese cars" won together with a GTR r35, and a to hot 240z  Also got stickers now for Bankrupt Garage  And in the end, just gotta share this.. Was down at my friends garage yesterday and saw what his dad have been working abit on lately, have seen it in progress a few times when I've been down there, but now it's starting to be really nice ! Really skilled Details getting pretty heavy on it :) So that's what's happened here lately :) Quote Link to comment
