Doctor510
Larger radiator (3 core), check your pump too, ir may have the steel impeller and is corroded Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
try a cooler stat. But only works so far if you live in a Hot area. as if hot area a cooler stat wont close long enough to cool the water in tha rad I run 160deg 54mm is the size. But on Hot days it still gets hot in standing traffic. I need a 3 core but to lazy to install them. Washington rarely gets too hot(except for this year) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
How you know it's 215F the 510 does not have numbers? Must be after market gauge, so who knows how good or compatible it is or if installed properly. Go to someone with, or borrow an IR heat gun and shoot the thermostat housing while running. It may be running hot but I think unlikely. If it isn't, it can get expensive changing rads, pumps flushing etc chasing something that isn't wrong in the first place. Expect to see temps around 185-190F Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I always assume gauges are wrong until I verify them with a meat thermometer stuck in the top of the radiator. Many times a sending unit is not installed in the right place. I've seen them installed at the back of the head and other places too. The factory location in the t-stat housing is the proper place on an L-series. 1 Quote Link to comment
