How you know it's 215F the 510 does not have numbers? Must be after market gauge, so who knows how good or compatible it is or if installed properly.

 

Go to someone with, or borrow an IR heat gun and shoot the thermostat housing while running. It may be running hot but I think unlikely. If it isn't, it can get expensive changing rads, pumps flushing etc chasing something that isn't wrong in the first place. Expect to see temps around 185-190F

I always assume gauges are wrong until I verify them with a meat thermometer stuck in the top of the radiator.

 

Many times a sending unit is not installed in the right place. I've seen them installed at the back of the head and other places too. The factory location in the t-stat housing is the proper place on an L-series.
