flatcat19
What do you mean? So on a non-LSD diff when one wheel spins forward the other will spin backwards. Get this...it will do it the same the other way too. 3 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
You need to be more specific. I'm still really confused as to what you mean. How can you tell it is spinning backwards if it is on the ground. Maybe's it's stuck/frozen. Quote Link to comment

You're right. sorry im just extremely pissed/rush so after bolting up the driveshaft, the car will not move forward and I don't seem to be able to put the car in reverse however i have not bled my clutch etc. with the car on the ground, it just jiggles a bit when being pushed but no forward or reverse movement. when I brought the wheels up, they turned pretty easy but one opposite of the other. I'm not sure what's wrong. sorry for not being specific enough. Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
That's normal, it's what an open differential does. Take the trans out of gear. Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Is it stuck in gear? Lift all 4 wheels and try again? Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
it's already in neutral. Should be able to move it then. Is this transmission any good? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
You should be able to figure this out easily. Remove driveline. Does car move? Lift car. Does each wheel move? 1 Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
With an open diff and both drive wheels off the ground, when you spin one wheel the other will spin in reverse. This is normal. If you hold one wheel fixed and spin the other, or spin both wheels the same direction the driveshaft will need to spin too, even if you spin the wheels at different speeds (this is the purpose of a diff, so your outside wheel can spin faster around a turn since the outside wheel has to cover more distance in a turn). If the pinion gear inside the diff is jammed, or the driveshaft is jammed (by the trans or whatever), you won't be able to spin both drive wheels in the same direction (or hold one fixed and spin the other). 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Except move wheels first. Then remove driveline. Sitting on the web does nothing to diagnose your issue. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Dude, bleed the clutch. It's not the drive shaft.. it's not the diff. Fluid in the tranny? 3 Quote Link to comment

Draker
Focus on your clutch, and your tranny... problem solved. 1 Quote Link to comment
DatMo
That would mean it's the tranny because I've already lifted the rear and turned the wheels. what i dont understand is that I had been turning the crankshaft in order to move the driveshaft to the perfect spot to bolt up. wouldn't that mean the tranny is fine? Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
It really shouldn't matter the state of the clutch or fluid in the trans if it's truly out of gear, in neutral, unless I'm missing something...like my brain 1 Quote Link to comment
DatMo
I haven't put fluid in the tranny however It's in neutral? I'll bleed my clutch again however I'm not sure what that accomplished? Quote Link to comment
