Giljr2
I was wanting to get a new resivour cap, I ordered a new brake booster and master cylinder but I had to reuse the resivour and cap but the cap is realeasing some black stuff, if someone could advise me somehow or somewhere to get new caps that would work? datzenmike
According to the FSM... never remove the reservoirs unless replacing. Don't know why, I have, but I warmed them in hot water first to soften them, dried them quickly and used those stock wire wrap around clamps. Worked perfectly. The black is just the rubber, or neoprene or whatever they use these days. As anything petroleum is not ever used in a hydraulic brake system it may be rubber. You could try washing them and thoroughly drying them. No water is to be allowed into the brake fluid! 1 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
If you have to clean the cap, use IsoPropylAlcohol [iPA]. It won't leave any residue. Just don't screw up and wipe with paper towels! Quote Link to comment
