Spare tire

Since I drive my coupe 50 miles one way to work now, I figured it would be smart to find a spare wheel and tire. I have 14x6 Appliance mesh wheels with 185/60-14's on the car, and since my plan is to upgrade the brakes at some point, I think it would be wise to stay with 14" wheels or bigger. Just wondering what others are using? I don't think what I'm running will fit in the spare well, but have not tried. Seems I will need something similar in size to the tiny stockers to fit in the well. Anyone tried a space saver out of a z? Any suggestions on a 14" donor wheel?

Your 185/60R14s are 22.75" diameter but 7.25" wide. If the diameter fits the storage space the width probably does not. Likely you have one of the old 13" steelies so just carry one of those. It will get you safely to a garage for a repair. (in limp mode) If you have larger calipers you may have to swap a rear tire to the front and run the steelie on the back.

This is 135/70-15 spare tire from second gen RX7, I am guessing 86-88 four lug cars. They fit in the spare tire well diameter wise very well. But is taller then stock wheel/tire. 22.5'' in diameter and about 4'' of back spacing and mounting clearance of 12'' would clear Klotz brake kit.

They came off this 12A rotary powered ex-drag car with STOCK Brakes!

Perhaps a early 80's to mid 80's Supra/Celica steel wheel would work, they had 14" wheels and front disc brakes on some Celicas and Supra, correct bolt pattern. There is a place in Alvarado, TX Exit 30 Imports that list both steel and alloy wheels for both cars I mentioned, might be a place to start. Even if it's on the other side of the state!

Found me a 14x5 steel wheel at a yard today. Think it is a Toyota Celica, but might be a Pinto/Mustang II. I think I'm going to try and put a temporary spare on it. That would fit for sure. Otherwise the smallest 14 I see is a 165 and would be a touch too wide I think.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
