81sunnyson
ok so i dropped an a 75 b210 a14 which was mated to a 60 series 5speed the clutch n flywheel were quite rusty so i used a paint scraper on my cutoff tool to knock off the rust then i installed a new clutch n pressure plate after spraying with starter fluid to make sure my fingerprints didnt smudge the old pilot bearing from 60 trans looked ok my old throwout seemed ok but had a few dimples on the flywheel side (no clutch issues before engine swap) mated the dogleg then test drove for a week the clutch was slipping didnt bleed slave during install n the pressure was ok guess oil is on the clutch or flywheel warped or i ruined clutch with the starter fluid oddly if i drive hour straight the heat helps the slipping any ideas? the a14 rear was leaking at rear main gasket but i sealed the pan after a week or so yet to pull trans to inspect just bleed slave and master no better Quote Link to comment
Draker
Was there plenty of meat left on the clutch? Is it possible the clutch disk is just.. worn out? Quote Link to comment
81sunnyson
brand new seemed ok for first day or two cuz i was taking it easy on used motor with no history, just guys word used z matchbox blew after two days so mainly taking it easy to see what would break once i felt confident to get on it then noticed leaks n slippage i had to pull the pan on install to change oil pickup and i boogered up the gasket Quote Link to comment
Draker
That's interesting.. Is the whole clutch kit new? Pressure plate worn out? Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
Does the bearing collar move fore and aft easily. Mine started slipping mildly but stopped after cleaning and lubing the collar and shaft, there was so much hardened gunk it was hanging up a bit. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Did you sandpaper the flywheel surface nice an shiny? Is it possible that it wasn't the pan but the crank seal? Was there oil as well as rust on the wheel??? Did your new PP and clutch come with a release bearing collar?? I assume you used your old one? 1 Quote Link to comment
81sunnyson
pressure plate was new but now all blue on the teeth where bearing sits used old bearing put old pressure plate back in seems ok for now Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Always, always, always, replace the bearing. Blue means it's seized and over heated the diaphragm fingers . Quote Link to comment
DanielC
With a new clutch disk, and pressure plate, if the clutch slips, that means the throwout bearing is pushing on the pressure plate, and partially disengauging the clutch. This wears out the the new disk, and the throwout bearing. 1 Quote Link to comment
