Think of it as tumbling through time, effectively it doesn't exist in our space but may drop out any time in the future only to be found one day on the garage floor after many sweepings and being painted. The nut just appeared on the floor of your other self, works the same way with socks in the dryer. Due to this difficulty of determining where the parallel plane lies, I have given up on finding anything I drop, it is better to just wait for my other self to drop it so that I might have it again.
