Matt5324
I got a '93 KA24E SOHC that I'm doing a turbo build on. I know the stock specs are 240 intake 248 exhaust with -.409 of lift on all valves. Does anyone know where to get upgraded cames for these engines? And what would be an appropriate amount of lift increase to give me somwthing like the cam effect like a V8 would if it was cammed out? Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
V8 stuff is NOT going to happen Try these guys be patient they are busy. http://www.americancustomcam.com/ Quote Link to comment

Depends what effect you are talking about. Sound? Turn the idle down to 450. Performance? turn the boost up. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I'm doing a turbo build... give me somwthing like the cam effect like a V8 would if it was cammed out? These two things are incongruous. Turbos like cams with decent amounts of lift, but not huge duration/overlap. In fact, stock (or near stock) cams are often best. "Cammed" V8s generally have a large amount of lift and duration causing them to "lope". So do you want a lumpy-sounding hot rod, or a smooth running turbocharged engine? I don't think it's possible (or in most cases desirable) to have both. Quote Link to comment

Alexzilla408
Camshafts designed for boost are VERY different from the lumpy cams you hear in naturally aspirated V8s. Datsunfreak pretty much nailed it though, as overlap is a killer on boost. N/A cams feature more overlap to increase scavenging. Only the most radical turbo cars have really crazy cams. Here's a video of my turbo race car idling. It'll make well over 1000 rwhp and the cam doesn't really sound that crazy. Quote Link to comment
