NIssan 720 KA 5 speed conversion questions AND help

I have a 1985 Nissan 720 ST that I've been fixing up and I was wondering if I could use my 1990 wrecked hardbody's pedal assembly for the conversion.

I have a WHOLE parts truck I can use (other than the engine, which I regret selling). Both are extended cab.

Basically I want to use whatever parts I can off the 90 hardbody to convert it. I want to use the 5 speed from it and put it on my Z24 720.

I've searched and searched and I can't seem to find too many details on whats compatible and what's not.  I know the engine and tranny will bolt up, I may need to shorten the driveshaft , but any other information would be great! But I'm mainly concerned about the pedal assembly needed.

You don't say but I guess you now have an automatic.

Pedal box is a total unknown. You will need the clutch master cylinder and anything needed to connect to the pedal. The hard line and flex line from the body to the transmission mounted slave cylinder. The slave cylinder and push rod. The clutch arm and dust boot.

Keep the Hardbody flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc and release bearing and release bearing collar together they are a matched set. (always replace high wear items such as the release bearing) The Hardbody (240mm?) flywheel is 6 bolt mount and should fit the Z24 crank, AFTER you remove the spacer plate sandwiched between it and the automatic flex plate.

The automatic crankshaft won't have a pilot bushing so tap one in. They are about $4. You can see it in the above picture.

Transmission may need the mount modified and the driveshaft lengthened/shortened. Maybe modify the Hardbody one.

The shifter hole located and made larger, shift dust boot, and shifter.

Automatic speedometer cable should work on the standard transmission. The electronic sensor speedometer was used on the '94 and on Hardbodys.

Wiring harness will be a nightmare. D21s have the engine harness integrated completely into the body harness. Often guys swapping this engine will get a 240sx engine wiring harness as it comes separate, but it does require some modifications.

I'm sticking to the Z24 until the engine goes or just becomes unreliable. But I'd going to try and put the KA tranny from my hardbody into the 720.

Thinking about starting a build thread or just share some pictures to show you guys what I did.

BTW: Update on the 720 vs. Hardbody pedal box.. They look completely different. Found a pedal box from a 720 on ebay, so it may be better to buy it and use that instead.

On your first post, click the Edit button at the bottom right, then Use Full Editor. Here you have access to change this thread's title. You can change it to a build thread or what ever you wish and I can even move it to Project Datto if you want. You can just keep adding to it.
