Osoi
Does anyone know (or have used these) new 720 tanks on a 521? Is the bolt pattern close? Or close enough to do a little fabricating? I've narrowed my problem down to a corroding gas tank, and this seems like a great cost effective option. datzenmike
No. 720 tanks fill from the passenger side for one and are mounted to the frame. The 521 is on the left side and mounts to the bed? 1 Quote Link to comment
Osoi
Odd, I looked under my 521 and it looks like it mounts to the frame. But you're probably right. Apart from a clean and re coat, and recommendations? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Maybe it does, the 620 bolted to the underside of the bed until '78, so I figured the earlier 521 was the same. Best fit would be 2wd regular cab short wheelbase truck. Even these are 13 US gallons, yours is only 11. Maybe mount backwards to have the filler on the right side? 1 Quote Link to comment
Osoi
Possibly, and for a less than 500 dollar shop time option, possibly worth exploring. 1 Quote Link to comment
denmarkboy
521 tank bolts to the bed . If your tank doesn't have holes in it you are better off keeping it ! There are simple DIY options you can use . And they are pretty cheap compared to you options . You will just have to follow instructions and put in the labor . This is a link to something I've used. http://www.kbs-coatings.com/restoration-kits.html 1 Quote Link to comment
