Convert2coupe
Hello everyone. I just bought a 1968 510 4 door in very good condition and want to convert it to 2 door coupe. Has anyone done something without donor car for roof doors etc. ?? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
By 'coupe' you mean a 2 door and not the right hand drive Coup from Japan? I think I remember the rear doors being welded shut and sealed over on a 4 door wagon to get a two door effect but getting in the back with short length front doors must be near impossible. It also won't look right and the windows are wrong. Without a pair of 2 dr. doors and a doner car, this can easily end up with your priceless 510 ruined. I would pass on this and just keep looking for a two door. 2 Quote Link to comment
Busta Nut
Hello everyone. I just bought a 1968 510 4 door in very good condition and want to convert it to 2 door coupe. Has anyone done something without donor car for roof doors etc. ?? Why would you do this?? It's a 68.......leave it alone..... 10 Quote Link to comment
Rhapakatui
It's a 68.......leave it alone..... ^^^THIS^^^ It could be done, but you wouldn't be increasing the value of the car, and you'd have to have a donor car. A much easier and cost/labor effective solution would be to fix up the 4 door. Sell it. Buy a 2 door sedan, and modify that to look like a '68. As for a 2 door coupe, get out the piggy bank and a hammer. Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
And then steal all the neighbors piggy banks, like, all the piggy banks in a five mile radius. I'd buy the four door off of you just to keep it from getting chawed on but I don't have the money or any idea where you're located 2 Quote Link to comment

Has anyone done something without donor car for roof doors etc. ?? Don't be a car molester, you obviously don't have any idea of how difficult it is to find a 68 in good condition, improve on that solid foundation and enjoy it! Failure to comply may result in Ratsun invasion of Greece! You've been warned!!! 2 Quote Link to comment

jrock4224
i got a two door i will trade u for it do not convert it .... clearly your new to the game since 4 doors are pretty darn desirable ..these aren't chevelles or novas that decrease in value as four doors... four sdoors in some rights are more valuable ... 5 Quote Link to comment

Convert2coupe
The thing is that i all ready have an early 80s' clean 4 door car so i wanted something different. Always i liked the original -510 right-handed- coupe but to pay 9000$ to 12000$ just for a rusty shell is way too much! So randomly found that 4door parked in athens and contact the old man who had bought the car new and i get it for 1000 euro. Finally i was curious if anyone had done something like that before.. All the bodywork engine etc it would done in my garage so all the cost is in the parts ! See here. 3 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
It's too nice to cut up. Maybe '68 510s are more common in Greece? If you ran an auto body shop that specialized in custom work like this? Had a set of 2dr. doors and side windows. If you had experience and equipment and had done several of these before with good results I would have less to say about not doing this. The above doesn't guarantee success but it increases the odds in your favor. Doing this in your driveway with only enthusiasm and passion for help doesn't inspire confidence. Please re-think this and just enjoy it for what it is. 2 Quote Link to comment

Dirttrack510
This whole idea blows, FOUR DOORS FITS MORE WHORES!!! If you really want a 2 door, sell the four door on EBAY and buy a two door. Don't ruin a 68' as it's the coolest and rarest 510 production year. Besides, I've seen some of these 4 door conversions and as earlier stated... They never look right. 1 Quote Link to comment
