Looking for a replacement 521 brake cylinder connector and bolt connector

Hey Ratsun Community, Ive been stalking the forum for a few weeks now and I realize this is the best place to ask for information.

I have a 70 521 and i'm in a bind.

Im reaching out to you guys to see if anyone can help me with a couple missing parts. Ive been in the process of replacing the components in my brake system. I found that some of the pieces on the system from the previous owner(s) did not match.

To make a long story short, I am looking for part numbers: 41128-08000 and 41130-08000 which may have been superseded by 41130-04100.

Is there anyone with those parts that can help me out? I am located in Socal but I can PayPal and provide a shipping label as well.

I am trying to keep everything as factory as possible without mismatch parts and threads.

Ive tried to purchase them online with the sites that claim they have it when I do a google search, but i have had no luck. All the local salvage yards do not have the truck in inventory.

In addition, does anyone know what thread and pitch the connector bolt is?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance! D

If information about a part or where you might buy a new part is what you are after, you have come to the right place but if asking if anyone has one, it has to be in the form of a want ad in our classifieds... http://community.ratsun.net/classifieds/category/8-brakes/?sort_key=date_added&sort_order=desc

Datsun 521 body parts are sized American SAE sizes.  Brake lines are 3/16, and use 3/8-24 flare nuts.  The bolt you circled might be that thread diameter, (3/8-24 or it might be the next size down, 5/16-24.

Some 620 brake parts also will fit on a 521, but the 620 parts switched to metric threads.

Thanks for your reply, Daniel. The 521 has me perplexed at times. I bought all new brake components and when I went to install the new cylinders and soft lines on the driver's side, the connector bolt wouldn't screw in. I removed it from the truck and noticed the thread was too large for the cylinder, so I swapped it out with the passenger side and it work. The connector bolt that wouldn't fit also had a bleeder valve that was smaller than 3/8-24. Also, the brake line didn't screw in correctly to the connector, which lead me to believe that the connector and connector bolt is from a different model. Perhaps, a 311 or 620 because it would only screw in a few threads and stop.

I've been doing as much research as I can to get the truck back on the ground but it's been one thing after another, so I'm taking it task by task at this point.

I've been in contact with DenmarkBoy, he said he has what I'm looking for, I'm really appreciative of that.

As long as cutting new threads doesn't remove too much metal. This is a part of your brake system, the most important safety device on your vehicle. Every effort should be make to keep it in perfect working condition.

"Would it be safe to rethread this connector bolt (Banjo Bolt) to 3/8-24? I believe this one is from a 620."

NO!

A 521 only has a single reservoir master cylinder.  Any brake fluid leak anywhere, you have no brakes.

If you cannot get the correct bolt that fits the brake wheel cylinder, get a wheel cylinder that fits the bolt.

I believe 620 brake cylinders will attach to a 521 brake backing plate, but all the fasteners that hold the wheel cylinder to the brake plate are Metric on the 620.  You will also have to change the brake line flare nut to Metric.

I know this is an old thread but I'm having same troubles locating parts. Has anyone found a source for the front banjo bolt or the rear y. I bought all new cylinders from AutoZone and didn't come with these parts. Now I see some on eBay that come with them but don't really want to rebut. 1975 620
