Dguy210
Well I figure I've been cross-posting to too many other threads with the 3D printer stuff I've been making so I decided to make a thread just for this stuff. What I'm using - I3Prusa: Older photo, I've since upgraded to a better computer. Examples of various parts: 1200 radio delete based off of a design by Njoz1200ute Some of my own design: Others in the mix: Other designs to print: Some other stuff I've made: 7 Quote Link to comment

If you don't pay attention to the alignment of the cover before you slam the 240SXSE lid you will likely shear the luggage cover to rear wheel beezel insert. There's just so many of our "obsolete" replacement parts until the Ghosen driven only money philosophy obsoletes this part. Don't loose the program, we will need it very soon. Thanks for your efforts! I, at least, appreciate it! 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
Yaknow I'm actually in need of one of those hood prop holders, and the one that holds the end into the core support. 1 Quote Link to comment

Probably not easily doable on the setup I've got (too small), working volume is an 8 inch cube (which is pretty average for a printer). I actually print the delete plate at a 45 degree angle to have better clearance. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
Yaknow I'm actually in need of one of those hood prop holders, and the one that holds the end into the core support. Actually you can still get the hood prop holders new from Nissan, the 210 thread has the part number. I think like $5 new. It was easier for me to print it then order it. Design to print was like 30mins total. However, I can easily customize it for other clips. The core support one can be replaced with a regular grommet I believe. I always just grab them when I see good ones at the junkyard. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I would love to have a delete plate for a 521 if you're making one. 1 Quote Link to comment

Dguy210
I would love to have a delete plate for a 521 if you're making one. Somebody already repops those in resin. I need one myself actually. 1 Quote Link to comment
fritzdixxon
I think you may have the solution to an idea that I have had in my head for some time. There was a "wagon" badge In the style and font that you made the Datsun 610 badge i'd love to get one that says either Wagoon or Goon. Looking like a factory option but not. 1 Quote Link to comment

I didn't make the 610 badge it was just there for size comparison. Are you talking about one in the style of the stock wagon badge, just with different lettering? Changing script is a surprisingly nasty thing to model as you need to match the font and then convert to a 3D file. Any script you see was actually modeled separately and incorporated into the main design. Did you mean a variant of this badge? This is one of my old resin castings. 2 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Cool stuff. Have you looked into leveling of the print? I've hear acetone vapor works well. 1 Quote Link to comment
fritzdixxon
Ya that's the badge I figured it would be tough especially changing to a capital G as a non techy individual scanning a wagon and then cut/copy/pasting an extra o to make wagoon seemed logical, but honestly outside of playing music on YouTube I check Ratsun and email and that is the extent of my computer usage. If you figure one out I'll buy one for sure. 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhapakatui
I want a velociraptor nose flute! But I really think you could sell those radio delete plates if the price was right. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Figure out how much a production hour is for your machine and material. Bam!!!! Selling price... 3 Quote Link to comment
Rhapakatui
Figure out how much a production hour is for your machine and material. Bam!!!! Selling price... Don't forget to pay for shipping cost and your time and gas to mail them off. It also doesn't hurt to put in a percentage for yourself. I think a lot of guys who get into these little impromptu ventures slap on an arbitrary price and then are overwhelmed by demand. Then we end up with stupid threads about how so and so is a crook. 5 Quote Link to comment

q-tip
Yeah, that Matt guy is such a crook making things and sending them off on time.... 4 Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
Cool stuff. Have you looked into leveling of the print? I've hear acetone vapor works well. I'm using mostly PLA, which does not really work as well with the acetone I've heard. It is on my to do list to try though. 2 Quote Link to comment

All of what you speak of are counted into my production hour. Even the arbitrary hate speech too. Yeah, this is definitely something that has crossed my mind. Probably anything I make more than one or two of though I will do a silicone cast and mold it. The advantages are I only need to do cleanup of the master I cast once, the reproduction time is 20-30minutes and with the new fiberglass cloth reinforcement I've been doing on my cast stuff the bulk of the castings are extremely strong (small details not as still the same). Downside is I still have the cost of the mold so it really depends on number of parts to make. Honestly, at this point I have no idea what to charge per hour, probably to make it cover my costs and to make it worth my time (given how slow the printing is) would likely put it outside what most people want to pay. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Put out a price regardless of the belly aching. Make sure it covers your expenses and time. If they don't like it then they have an option to go elsewhere. Don't ever undercut yourself. 8 Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
Smoothed and filled the print for a quick casting. Still not happy with it though, I think I lost a bit too much of the sharpness of the lines. I think I might print and cast this one again. 3 Quote Link to comment
