mrmark
I'm working on a 74 260Z in our shop. It was towed in with a crank no start. I checked fuel pressure at the front and got nothing. At first I thought it was a dead fuel pump but if I put 12V to the pump it runs and the car starts. So I looked up the wiring diagrams and it looks like it has a double relay that powers up the pump when cranking but de-energizes it if alternator voltage drops. I guess it's a crash issue thing to keep the fuel from pumping into an accident scene. So I'm not sure of the location of these relays, I mean I know P/S kick panel but I don't know which relays are which. I'm considering rewiring the pump to run key on but I gotta see what the customer wants. It's a fairly clean ride but I know he'll be back on the road with no issues in an hour or so instead of finding/ordering/installing replacement relays. Has anyone re-routed power for their electric fuel pump in this manner? Of course I'd use an inline fuse and route it safely. Quote Link to comment
