hellaflushed720
Would like to rebuild motor/turbo ka24e head on a z24? Or just turbo the factory motor not looking for power house 150-250hp Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Cha-ching! How much money do you want to spend. That's really what it boils down to. A stock KA24E can easily make 150hp so why do you want Turbo? Good Turbo is not cheap. Cheap Turbo is not good. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Don't you already have a similar thread going? Try sticking to one thread to make things easier. Quote Link to comment
hellaflushed720
Well my budget is just time I piece together a kit I've heard all this talk about z24 bottom maybe being forged factory an how good of a design but the head being garbage so wanting to give it a try just needing some info on what actually needs to be done with the head to work plus any advice on stock bottom or somewhere to have it built plus if to make efi an if so how. (Have owned a 650hp srt4 so not clueless on how much $$ it cost) Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Time is free if you're doing your own work, but the parts are still going to cost you, for a reliable turbo I mean. To build a good turbo setup and the motor to go with it, you will spend $4-$6K easily. And for the record, stock Z24 pistons are not forged, neither are KA pistons. Quote Link to comment
nl320what
Z24 heads are crap, we normally swap it out with a L16 (A87 SSS Head), with some timing chain work, but its the most common swap on a NAPS-Z engine. Otherwise if you wanted almost no work on your end, the KA24E or KA24DE will reach your 150hp mark without turbo. If you must have a turbo, look for a SR20DET or RB25DET(T) which are easy to tune and parts are naturally forged off the shelf. Quote Link to comment
